Level 2 mission Recon (3 part)

Now I will be the first to admit that I play EVE very badly, pathetic is the word that comes to mind, but I have a question concerning a mission called "Recon"

This is a three part mission and I was doing it at level 2.

Now normally level 2 stuff is easy and I do them for relaxation and as a change from grinding PI and manufacturing, as I said I am pretty hopeless at fighting so I was looking forward to a straightforward mission. I should have been warned by the rewards on offer 600000 ISK plus 450000 time bonus and so on. Still to cut a long story short I failed miserably. Got my arse well and truly kicked and abandoned the mission.Sad

Am I right in thinking that this level 2 mission should really be a level 3, there certainly seemed to be a lot of medium rats to cope with and the small stuff was exteremly hard to kill and did a lot of damage to my ship.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks.

You just have to get to the acceleration gate asap and don't shoot anything.

A lot of reward for a little effort Blink

Ah! that did not occur to me as I made the assumption that the gate would be locked. Goes to show you what assuming things can do, eh?

Thanks

The gate is locked. You need to come near it and warp away.

No it is a level two mission because if memory serves you don't kill anything in that mission. Just get in a fast ship(Shuttle or "Probe" minmatar or equivalent for other races.) and zoom through the gates to complete the mission objective. There are other level two missions where you will find, for example, fleets of battleships etc but you are not intended to fight those either.

If you are offered a mission and have not done it before it is advisable to look it up on:

Mission title is 'Recon'. Short for 'Reconnaissance'.

I haven't done that mission for a while but the Agent Briefing should have mentioned something about 'scouting the area'.

This is the Missioners Bible, sorta like 'In-field Intelligence'.

Recon, both the level 2 and level 4 version, is a bundle of fun tricks. The first mission in the sequence relies on either killing spawns quickly (more or less as they come up) OR running to the gate and getting out. If you can kill fast enough it's one of the most profitable combat missions out there. The second mission is basically a sprint to a large collidable object that looks like a gate and then a quick turnaround to see if you can warp before you get scrambled. The third part does considerable environmental damage and either requires a very fast ship or a damn decent tank to last you until the gate.

If I were guaranteed nothing but Recon all day I might just consider missioning for several hours. The money is good, completion times are low, it spawns in the agent system, and now ship switching is instant -- which was probably the biggest time sink before.

Complete Recon 1 and 2 in a shuttle.

Complete Recon 3 in your normal mission ship with an extra propulsion device.

Finish 3 missions in 5 minutes or less.

For the lvl4 version it really is worth taking the time to shoot the BS's in part 1 before you jump through the gate. Bounty is 1mil each and there are many of them. If you just blitzing for standing then a shuttle works great.. although it will not get you through part 3.

I do part 1 (the level 4 version) in my regular mission ship (Golem at the moment) while doing parts 2 and 3 in a Vagabond. I get about 12 million in bounty for the first and complete the whole series in 15 minutes or so.

PVP is a question with no single right answer, but a lot of wrong ones.

Agreed, the battleshipsin the L4 version are fat and juicy. Perfect targets for my Tengu! P
