Dear CCPs and general forum goers at large, I have a proposal. Not so long ago one of the members of the mighty Hatchery ran an Iron Man (2.4 mile swim in the sea, 112 mile cycle, 26 mile run) to raise money for a cancer charity and being the loyal bros that we followed his training and progress and sponsored him and it was a terrific success. And we were all content being proud of him and feeling vicariously good about ourselves. Unfortunately though, he was not satisfied with this and demanded more of us.

The villain in question (a Mr Big Monkey in eve) has now challenged us to join him in doing a Tough Mudder (a team assault course challenge) as a corp for charity. This seems like an exceptionally good idea and a chance for us all to meet each other, hang out and test our eve bonds in the real world. If we can pull it off it'll mean corpmates coming from around Europe and the Americas to England for a few days of exhausting pain followed, most likely, by excessive alcohol consumption and maybe a LAN roam.

So, that's the background, but I imagine you're wondering how it involves CCP in any way (unless you've read the title in which case you know where I'm going with this). I would like CCP to sponsor us by running a PLEX for good for our entry into the event with all the proceeds going to the charities we raise money for. Furthermore I am willing to seed the PLEX for good sponsorship with a personal donation of 1000 PLEX (560,000,000,000 isk) to guarantee that we raise at least $15,000 for charity. So even if nobody else feels like donating we will still raise a colossal (to my innocent student mind) amount of money for some really great causes. If CCP are unwilling to run a PLEX for good campaign for our charities but are willing to sponsor our attempt by offering a cashout of the PLEX we donate as a team then that is also acceptable and we will raise as many PLEX as possible (still at least 1000 from me) to donate. All money will be handled by CCP etc and given directly to the charity, I don't expect CCP to use me as a trusted third party, not a scam.

If, as we hope, CCP are willing to run a PLEX for good then I'm hoping the $15000 minimum will be dwarfed by the amount we can raise from the community. We are willing to blog our training and progress for the event and look forward to showing how the bonds of a space empire can have a big positive impact on the lives of real people and achieve something pretty incredible. Naturally we'll document the trials of the event itself for an epic blog post afterwards. If a CCP rep wants to show up and video us falling over, getting electrocuted and the rest of it then we're on board with that, it's for a good cause.

If that hasn't convinced CCP then I'll get pragmatic and list why you should absolutely hit this.
- Really, really good press from charitable donations that you don't actually need to pay for.
- Even if you don't run a PLEX for good you can still make a considerable charitable donation from my PLEX alone which again, you don't actually need to pay for.
- Potential new subs from showing how awesome eve corps can be.
- A chance to show how different CCP and the eve community are from other MMOs and the way that CCP work with eve players to create what is undoubtably the best MMO community.
- A lot of money for charity.
- It's been years since the last one, why the hell not do some good.
- Didn't want (or indeed own) those PLEX anyway.
- Purpling in real life against real obstacles is pretty "eve is real".

Some money from the entry fee of the Tough Mudder goes to Help for Heroes, a British charity which does some amazing things to help injured soldiers and their families recover and rebuild their lives. I would ideally like to raise money for a number of other charities as well though. Perhaps, if CCP agree to our proposal, people could vote for a shortlist of charities and then, if they had a specific charity in mind, write it in the description in their contract. Just a thought.

While I won't be running, there's a good chance I'll fly over from the US to watch EVE nerds running, and also to make fun of Kwark's BW play in person. :)

Perhaps they have to go through all sorts of different departments and such before they reply. I'd give it another 2 weeks at least before calling them out.

This means the price on the eve market will drop and she won't get as much for her plex as she does now.

Really you need to contact CCP directly if you want to organise something like this - a dev might see the thread and get the ball rolling but its likely to be a lot slower.

no she means the opposite. every time ccp has done something like this it removes a massive amount of plex from the market driving prices up by people looking to profiteer out it.

Really hope CCP consider this in some form.
