make your own events. define your eve and then invite everyone to play.

I agree that player created events such as Hulkageddon are great additions to eve and that player created events are necessary. However, I also think that eve shouldn't have just player events. New or different items in eve help with this creative process as well. But i do agree with you that the more people get involved and make their own fun and rely less on CCP the more they will have fun.

I am adding this idea from a previous thread i did on a separate forum category, as i didn't get much (no) input really on it. Hope i can get more feedback on it here. Tell me what you think, the positive and possible negatives of it. I hope you all will continue to give ideas as some of you have already done to create an eve universe that is dynamic, exciting, and at times unpredictable.

I have been reading over the forums for the last several weeks and have notice several people complaining about how there seems to be a lack of population/activity in lowsec other than going to empire from 0.0 or vice versa.

I don't believe that it is a huge of a problem as some believe, however it is an issue and should be addressed somehow.

Here is my idea:

The system layout of eve is fairly straight forward empire--->lowsec--->0.0. There are all sorts of variety in the arrangement of these systems to overlap somewhat.

We have a few high sec island systems in lowsec.

We have low sec constellations surrounded by empire.

We have 0.0 npc space.

I propose we implement 0.0 island systems in lowsec, perhaps 1 or 2 in each lowsec region. It could be made a npc system but may be better to leave it player owned as this will create volatility (activity) fighting for control of it.
I believe that this would dramatically increase player activity in lowsec as piracy would love to camp gates going into that system.
It would also slightly change the dynamic of the relationship of 0.0 to lowsec.
This would also increase curiosity in younger players/corps as it would give players a stepping stone to what really 0.0 is like.
It would also provide the opportunity for CCP to introduce some new storyline/agents/annomolies if they wish to make the system npc 0.0.

Overall i think that putting a 0.0 island system or two in each lowsec region would mixed up the routine and give a new dynamic and interest in lowsec.

Looking forward to your comments, for or against.

And as always, keep them constructive.

Bounties and bounty hunting needs to be fixed....... badly.

This is a mechanic in eve that is currently pretty pointless as anyone can get an alt and claim his own bounty.

The only reason some people have bounties is for the 'statis" of a pirate with a bounty.

We need a bounty system that:

(1) where you chose a registered bounty hunter to exact your vengeance and only he/she can collect the bounty.

(2) set the kill requirements for the bounty collection, IE you have to kill 100,000,000 isk to collect the 100,000,000 isk bounty.

(3) could employ a corp or alliance with the same criteria... IE so much isk in damage against another corp/alliance

( receive 1 isk for each 1 isk destroyed, example. a formal merc. contract.)

These are just some rough starting ideas, but i would like to know what you guys think about them. I believe this would make eve much more dynamic.

All credit for these ideas go to Sigras.

One thing this I would really like as it could be a big potential buff to low sec is Sansha mining ops. Imagine: Sansha's Nation is being bled dry by capsuleers shutting down their incursions, so they need to refill their material stores (or some other lore explanation). Sansha is hesitant to provoke the wrath of 0.0 alliances and mining in high sec is too dangerous to be cost effective - leaving only low sec. Sansha combat rats as well mining ships could randomly spawn in low sec asteroid belts, or even planets and go about mining or collecting PI resources until they reach their quota or are destroyed. For an added bonus, don't announce Sansha miners/collectors so people have to actually look for them, increasing low sec traffic (a fairly direct boost to piracy as well).

Done right this could not only add a new type of dynamic event to EVE, but it could also add some nice PVE content while revitalizing the long dead profession of belt piracy.

This sounds like it would be really cool if implemented correctly.

In Jita and have them attack 4-4
Hell, a Incursion forming in Jita would be funny by itself.

Or having a system's sun go supernova and spawn some in game material that could be mined.

Jita's lol

The best thing would be the NPC ships travelling in dead highsec space. Players should feel the life not just in Jita but the whole empire as well.

Live events that get announced via the usual means but are announced earlier on CQ screens in news format. I'd like to see occasional comet path projections announced via CQ screen. Make them system specific, so if a miner is in stacmon for example, he / she can dock and check an astro news feed on their CQ screen for minable comets insystem. In lowsec and 0.0 I could check astronews feed in CQ, find a comet path and go camp it before the people that don't use CQ news feed get the notification through usual means.

one of the biggest complaints ive had about eve since i started playing was the fact that it was so linear in design compared to other space shooter type games, all of the posts in this thread are great ideas to spice things up

Last event I read about there were a bunch of people complaining that they lost their ships just going about their daily business and that they should be reimbursed.

Another group of people complaining that they didn't know about the event and missed it, and yet another group complaining that there were too many people at the event as it was and it was lagging out.

I would however like to see more events.

You could give everyone a gold brick and a bunch of people would be complaining it was to heavy, a bunch of other people would complain it was too small, and another bunch would complain that it was the wrong shade of yellow.

Screw the naysayers, gief moar events!

I'm all for live events. I wonder if CCP would be open to allow players to help out more with the design and running these.

Have a way to suggest a live event, with all the details down to how many ships/items would be there. How many players this would be designed for. All the possible variables submit it to CCP and as the live event team has time they could review and possibly help set these up.

I am all for CCP giving us more content but I would like some more control over this sandbox and the direction it goes. Even if it was just for small events.

This along with the new ships that came from players is a nice new direction. CCP has been creating content for us since the beginning. Yes we do create some of our own content such as Hulkagedon, and the Goon's war on the ice miners but stuff that is sanctioned by CCP could be very interesting.

I have always wanted to see space races. Even tho it is a challenge to set these up with gates It would be cool to do a check point race where there are cans in certain belts with items you need to collect. Put these like 500KM off a belt so players have to warp to the belt then race to the can to collect the items.

You could make everyone start In Jita have have 10 check points for people to goto. Make it so you have to decided on the optimum route to get all the items from the cans so not everyone is taking the same route, add in some Low sec and maybe even Null sec check points to spice it up. Announce the systems that players are going to have to goto 30 min before the race starts so people cannot just plan their route out days in advance.

A couple of things I wouldn't mind seeing:

  • Concord failure in a high-sec system... no sec hit, no Concord response, no gate guns, 4 hours of free-for-all. Stay docked or leave system to avoid the mayhem.
  • Every once in a while, some Sleepers sneak into normal space (all sec levels) and find their way to belts or stations and harass the locals.

Why would they do that? They are just drones that were left over by some aliens. They have no motive or reason to leave what they are doing.

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

Having been awakened, some Sleepers have taken notice that the despoilers come from the mouths of wormholes. Going through a wormhole, they find nests which their programming says should be cleansed.

Lore isn't really a problem.
