I hope that you will do me the courtasy of reading this Eve mail.

First I would like to state for the record that this is not a troll or in anyway deflamatory. It is hoped that you will respond at a personal level instead of pushing what I am going to suggest to a forum which does not appear to be looked at seriously (please - this is the perception of many people)



I have just enjoyed (yes enjoyed) reading the CSM minutes and would like to suggest a few things that may give you the ideas that you crave but actually have those ideas realised in a coherent manner.


Market - Theme
You wish to involve enablers more. There are many ways to do this but one way may be to look at the market.
Make it real - i.e. instead of various sites that use API's for functions, develop the market to become more of a stock market with in game tickers (on/off as ppl see fit). Allow alliances to buy limited shares in (public viewable) corps, POS etc. yes this wil likely lead to a skewing of some things but thats the point of Eve. Chaos and the inevitability that ppl are greedy when it comes to money. I am sure you can develop more ideas from this. Maybe even have a CCP run Eve Bank that loans against collateral etc and, occasionally sub prime things?? You get the point.

New Places/Races - Theme
Why not have a region of space where new races invade much in the way of incursions BUT interspearsed with the AI there are REAL ppl (alts) that can control a ship (a commander vessel) or even do limited fleet movements or set primaries? This could be invite only for existing customers and maybe only for a limited time? This could even be incorporated witin the existing Incursions with say a 'master race overlord' that can control a sansha fleet in a specific incursion site.

New Game Mechanics

Make covert cloaks a fixed time or fuelable (stop afk cloakers)

Show damage on ships/ships take damage when they collide with anything.

Increase the standings lists - for ppl who fly NRDS, which is unique in the game and should be fostered, the current limits means that the standings lists get full. An increat to say 10K at alliance, 5K at corp? This has been suggested and petitioned nunerous time and apart from one reply requesting it should be asked elsewhere, there has been no real response from CCP.


Ability to drive the ship in a direction using joystick/keyboard - gives a sense of being able to actually control a ship not the orbit/point click. maybe this 'manouvoring' could affect trackings/locking etc? This should help immerse the player more.

Ability to block or switch off a gate for a short period of time IF a predtermined list of requirements is fullfilled - maybe neut the gate and to get it on you cap transfer? This may lead to pockets of isolation but if that happens magic occurs in that system - say a special mineral/bpo that kinda thing. You could even charge the gate up from the partner gate. Actually that would give a gate camp a WHOLE new twist.

Get station walking enabled - this now is kinda there with Dust - a space game with a bit of FPS thrown in would get ppl interested. With in station concord police as well. Interaction at a personal level within a station was touted a few years ago. Would be nice that an agent mission included a component of meeting ppl (real) in game to achieve a way point.


Going Forward - Product Placement

It is about time CCP started to run adverts outside the bounds of youtube. Some of the content you have produced is astounding but in the EU we just dont see it - no TV advert, no press outside of the odd gamer mag. I understand there was a few adverts in the US but that is just one place.

Game Subsets
Excellent idea - the ability to select what you want to do within the Eve Universe is crutial. The PI idea I like. The port bits to other devices that can interact with Online I love - XBox Glass is a start to this. This is a very neat feature and would enhance play - would be nice to offload say the market screen/chats to a tablet device (ipad/android)

Let ppl be the Insurers - they put up the isk for insurance - let there be a competative market for insuring ships. let it be abused.




I hope the above has given some ppl thoughts outside of the sandbox so to speak. It only TBH the ideas here have not been thought trough but the idea of the thread is to promote discussion/ideas etc, so I would be grateful for constructive comments and not flames.

Corporation shares are largely pointless as corps are a dime-a-dozen and there is no way to get ISK back from corps that sell their shares for ISK, then disband and walk way with the money. So no one will invest in a corp unless it is the corp itself... but they don't need to buy up shares to invest in a corp.

With a CCP run EVE Bank... it wouldn't work. Create alts, take out loans, transfer/launder/"lose" ISK, let alt fall into in-activity. Rinse and repeat.
Collateral wouldn't work very well either because... well... why would you put something up as collateral for a loan when you can simply sell it on the market for interest-free cash? Plus, nothing in the game is truly unique... so there is no reason to hold on to anything if you are short on cash.

How is this much different from Faction Warfare? Yeah... your idea is a bit more heavy with NPCs... but the idea is still the same and the rewards are similar.

What I'd like to see is CCP add in Angel, Sansha, Serpentis, and Gurista militias to the game so people can truly role play their "pirate tendencies."

You just broke long range recon/intel work and wormhole ops.

Also... read the many threads on this subject. AFK-Cloaking is a symptom of local's "instant intel" and one of the few ways to nab PvEers and/or "attack" a 0.0 system with a vastly smaller force (think guerrilla warfare).

Imagine playing a flight simulator at 1 frame per second. That's how fast the server updates, registers, and executes any [new series of] command[s] you input into the client.

Your mouse will be faster and more accurate.

No one would be willing insure someone else's PvP ship. Ever. It'd be bad business.
The current NPC insurance system is nothing more than a mechanic to encourage PvP (by softening the loss of T1 ships). Why people don't see this and complain that "insurance is not like RL insurance" is quite baffling.

I actually agree on most of your points. I had not thought through the actual 'theft' that could occur but the ccp bank with colateral - why not. they give collateral say a 10M isk ship but only get say x% of the seeded value. Maybe think of it more along the lines of a PAwnShop? The shares would be in NCP corps and maybe gave you a benefit in those corp stations like more LP when you do missions from there?

As for the 'manual flying' I do not know how the server works but other games have a similar ability, so I do not see why Eve can not - unless it is a fundemental change.I take it that the client can not fly the ship - that ALL is server side?

The 'nerf' for cloaky - I disagree - You should still be able to cloak but with the duration based upon skill. and you can recharge by fuel or being uncloaked? My point here is the afk cloaking. Once you are in a system then afk cloak is no risk really.

The standard invul on undock? or maybe when away from a station. This was just an idea albeit a bad one :)

Not so - if u turn a gate off - there is an opposite mech to turn it on. The bigger fleet wins. Or maybe it can be offlined for a random period and then only once a day? You could always cyno around the gate.



Any positive points to make on the ideas that you did not mention please?
