It is quite funny that having an awesome missile platform, the caldari has to use railguns for "bombardment"

the raven has four gun slots - and only small guns can be used for the bombardment if i read the info correctly, so a raven sporting defensive missile points (or a cloak) and being set up with the bombardment weapons does make sense ^_^

What?

Just because it can be done doesn't mean it should be

My recollection of anything past about a month ago is hazy (except for silly trivia), but wasn't the Raven a damn fine sniping platform about...6-7 years ago?

Even if my recollection is true, all it does it make it more than just a "missile boat" historically speaking. However, this inclusion of lasers is an affront to the Caldari State and no doubt their lawyers will be in touch.

I knew affiliating with the Amarr would cause nothing but trouble.

Ive seen a Scorpion with lasers flown to quite good effect, but a raven? um.. only so one could go PEWPEW (while saying PEWPEWPEW) at a frig while waiting 10 mins for the cruise missiles to hit their target.

Actually, I'm hiding Strong Boosters in there. It's the second-to-last place the Customs Officials will look for contraband these days. :)

(I'm hoping I don't have to tell you where the last place they'll look is located.)

Torp Raven with shield buffer is quite good for BS warfare. Not the best out there, but you get a nice bang for the buck.

Laser Raven Theory

Quote:

Laser Raven Theory suggests that situations exist wherein a laser can be fitted to a Raven for optimal results. Certain conditions apply and all of these must be met for the Laser Raven setup to be pratical.

1) The Raven is being used to destroy drone or Sansha rats, and other rats with high vulnerability to EM and thermal damage.
2) A second ship is used for the looting and salvaging of the wrecks, making tractor beams and salvagers unnecessary on the Raven.
3) The pilot is aware of how to avoid encounters with hostile ships while ratting, by watching the local window at all times, having bookmarks to safespots, and if necessary, staying aligned to a safespot or celestial object while ratting.
4) The pilot never has capacitor issues.
5) The pilot is willing to spend isk on the laser(s), and an ancillary current router rig if applicable
6) The pilot is willing to train energy turret and controlled bursts skills.

To be fair they thought TRIBE would be dead by the time the picture went up so they couldn't be accused of favouritism.

You can't blame them really.
