Hey, hope this is in the right place.

I'm new and have decided to go down the root of mining so after searching online and checking out some guides for some good starting mining ships I came upon the Osprey which was recommend that I attach 3 lasers. However after purchasing one I realised I could only fit 1 laser yet there were 3 upgradable hardpoints.

So my question is am I just doing something wrong or can I upgrade the slots with rigs to add more mining lasers and if so which ones ?

Thank you

You were looking at a guide that was made before last update, before that the osprey was a mining cruiser but CCP is upgrading/balancing ships.

Route of a miner now:

Venture

Mining Barge (Procurer, Retriever, Covetor)
Exhumer (Skiff, Mackinaw, Hulk).

EDIT:

Tip: ALWAYS double check anything you find in EVE. Check if you can find a 2nd guide that says the same (or more or less the same) and ALWAYS check when the guide was written.

EVE has 2 expansions a year (summer and winter) and thus in 2 years you are 4 expansions behind and a lot could have changed since then.

when in doubt, right click, show info, read.

one HUGE problem EVE Has is that a lot of information out there is obsolete. even aside from some of the more dramatic recent changes, over time a lot of stuff has changed, and a large portion of information online is no longer accurate.

also, "upgradable hardpoints" I believe is referring ot how many rigs it can take. for mining lasers you need high slots and turret hardpoints. each laser needs 1 high slot and 1 turret hard point unused.

The Osprey is now a pretty much dedicated logistics ship, all the mining bonus's have been removed as have some of the turret hardpoints. RIP the bait Osprey.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Devblogs, latest and gratest about eves official facts. EvEs wiki might also be good stop for info, but sometimes thats little outdated as well.

As posted above, ALWAYS check the date on information that you find online. There's a ton of it out there, and a lot of it is nearly useless...especially ship fittings.

One of the biggest helps to me has been the E-Uni Wiki. Also, even if you don't plan on joining, their in-game chat channel (E-Uni...under "Help") is 500x better than the default Rookie Help channel.

The wiki hasnt been updated at all... I was looking for info on the Algos today and none of the reballencing or even the new ships have been added yet.

You even have to be careful in there. For instance: they still have a couple of Incursus fits with only two low slots.

Just so you know, even though the E-Uni wiki is a pretty good source of information for newbies, it's an extremely poor place to get fits from because about 80% of the fits on there use T1 meta 0 modules, have no rigs, are outdated since recent changes to ships or are just bad fits generally.

I mean there's some reasonable stuff there but a lot of it is total garbage.
