Hi.
I've started similar thread in "Ships and modules" some time ago.
Now i am opening it here.
T1 ships have 3 rig slots.
When T2 ships was introduced, CCP decided to decrease slightly their powers, reducing number of rigs. Two skiils gives bonuses to the T2 ship, meantime only one to T1. So let T1 will have more rigs. Ok, clear logic and everything is fine. But...
T3 ships. Affected by 5 (or even 6 - main skill included) skills and have thre rig slots. According to previous logic t3 ships must have one or even no rig slots, but they have 3. Logic does not work anymore. In previous thread a lot of players tell the same.
T2 ships must have three rigging slots.

T2 ships are specialist ships. They don't need the versatility of T1 or T3 rig fittings.

If anything, their already improved resists, cap, buffer and other stats more than make up for it.

The third rig slot is but a footnote in a volume of a series of Moby ****-length books detailing the plethora of problems with T3s.

Apparently CCP is not a fan of Melville.

In other words, you want 3 rig slots on ALL ships including t2 right?

I want this myself. I think it would be an awesome idea.

Buuuuuut...

... if you think about it, how would you fit it?

If these ships were real ships, and you rewire the t1 hull for a t2 confiuration, you would need thicker (and therfore bulkier) wiring and conduit piping, the control systems would need to be beefier, and everything would be a tad more cramped. The trade-off is that you use the same hull, but get less space to fit better, stronger, and more efficient systems, thus you would lose one rig slot.

When you revamp a design, without overhauling the original frame and basically building a completely different ship, and add more power to a specific task, you have to make some trade-offs; in this case, you lose a rig slot to the higher capabilities.

And your cockpit gets a tad less roomy.

It's kind of like when we upgarde the Bradley or Abrams here in the US Army; everytime they add a new system or some new-fangled doodad, the inside of said armored fighting vehicle gets more cramped and you lose some of the storage space.

the problem is T2 rigs are too expensive on the whole so people will fit T1 as usually you can only fit 2 T2 rigs as calibration allows so this must have been the original reason.

'Tech3 ships need to be put down, like a rabid dog drooling everywhere in the house, they are out of line' CCP Ytterbium Nerf missile range into place where is the TD missile change?  ..projectiles should use capacitor. ABC's should be T2 HABC and nerf web strength its still too high

And so? Today T1 ships are specialists too. I can not agree with you. Advancement in technical specs? It is debatable.

Make DDs a small turret, with appropriate fitting requirements for frigates.

Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot.
