The beeps from hell

I don't understand how people are aggravated by it. When im in combat that noise i barely even notice it. In fact i hated the metallic noise bug every time a can dropped far beyond this. When im fighting im focusing on the situation not the noises and even then hearing the tick for the timers helps me judge when i've lost aggression etc faster than seeing the yellowboxes

The hearing test noise is quite annoying, I'll agree.

The only time I find it useful is when a target I have been shooting disappears (thus I get the beep to indicate that "a target has de-aggressed you"), since the sound arrives faster than the UI updates to remove the locked target, the item from the overview and the red cross in space.

Every other instance of the NPC timer update is a pain in the (r)ear.

You guys find some genuinely stupid crap to whine about. Turn eve sounds down. Alternatively leave them all the way to the max and go through a jump bridge and you'll never hear anything again.

4. When you are cap transfering someone else who does any of the above.
5. Same as 4 with shield transfers and armor transfers.
6. When you lose aggro from NPCs. (probably just #3 I'm hearing here)
7. When you're cap transfering a logi who is repping someone doing #1-3. (this one could become a nightmare in large chains)

Em. Last time I checked, the sounds were flag-based rather than action-based. As long as my flags were up I never got or noticed any more beeps other than their initiating/ending beeps.. I've logied recently too and I didn't notice any extra beeps other than the first flags going up and going down after (15+minutes). Your beep-whine sounds a lot like over-reacting mate. Are you sure you'r describing your situation right?

You are talking abou the "dental drill flag alarms", right? It hurts my ears too, as in pain.

That sound suXXors. Needs to be ditched.

Another part of the problem is information overload. I am an ICU nurse IRL, and we have alarms going off all the time. We must learn the sound of each alarm and what it means. SInce life and death is at stake, the alrams are all perfectly meaningful.

The new sounds and alarms in Retribution are only confusing. It took me quite a while to figure out the cap alarm. And it alarms where I usually run my cap .... so for me, it is totally useless. Combine that with the many other pointless alarms and you information overload that, once again, suXXors.

I play with sound off now... An entire dimension of the game that is not usable.

You know you can change the percentage of the cap warning right? So you can set it below your running point at ships/fits you use. Or just turn it off,if you find it's useless for you (which goes for all warnings). And since you used a RL analogy, badly I might add, our UI is more "flexible" to cater to a bigger audience rather than follow a rigid, tested, single purpose infrastucture. If there are aspects you find no meaning for, then don't use it. In other words, you are responsible to find which of the informations the UI provides is useful or not for you and organise them accordingly.

Also. I have never...ever turned sound off in EVE since I first started. If I don't want to hear something or the sound of 100+ ships, just zooming out 3 rolls works fine for a few seconds. Seriously, you guys throw an entire "dimension" out just like that?

This.

Personally, I particularly like the alerts. They're clearer, and every time one goes off, I know why and what it's telling me. I have the cap alarm on set to 30% so I know when to shut off my shield boosters, the shield warning set to 25% so I know when it's time to think about hitting the GTFO button, the alarm set for armor to know when it's really time to GTFO, and the hull set to 99% to tell me to GTFO or I'm completely f-ed. The aggression and and other flags tell me when I've been locked, etc. and even though I PvE, I've never heard too many beeps.

I find all these new sounds have only enhanced my situational awareness and helped me monitor my systems all the while focusing on other things that are more important at the moment, like making the other guy go boom.

I really just think OP wanted to find something to complain about. Most of the changes haven't been an issue or have made things better. Although, if you're going to throw a fit about something, then there's always the bounty notification system and how it currently never STFU, particularly if your target is the popular type. But I digress... I'm getting off topic.

I think it's pretty clear CCP didn't playtest this feature.

This, please remove this one sound, or make it play only once per timer, not every time it resets AND every time it starts moving away from 5. Better yet, add option for disabling sounds warnings you don't need just like you have for the shield / armor / structure / cap warrings

Its pretty clear you don't understand whats being complained about.

It's only in pve that is obviously overlooked edge case starts happening, where you hear a bzz every secound or two for an entire anom/ sig / mission site

If a hypersensitive aspie like me isn't put off by the sound then I can't imagine why it would bother an NT. I mean maybe you have the sound turned up too loud or something?

I do believe none of the whiney people in here have ever taken a jump bridge or been near a cyno with the sound on before... "Oh this tiny beeping hurts my ears!" Why not go stand next to a cyno in lowsec for a minute and wait for something to come through it?

To all you guys saying "Eve has Sound" Please leave the thread, this is for honest paying customers that would like a particular change.

When this first came out, I posted in several different threads to try to bring this issue to light.

In the end I was forced to turn sound off, Which really hurt the over all gaming experience for me. i no longer am able to hear gate fire, wormhole fire, shield and hull notifications. The sounds that I want to hear are now off due to the log off timer sounds.

Please remove them CCP, It would really make the game more enjoyable.

Seriously, I'm over the number of beeps and buzzes involved when even just a group of Rats targets my Hulk. Believe me, I'm already quite aware of it.
