Truth continues to be stranger than fiction.

Quote:
At least once a day, Robert Mackey and Paul Trucchio would pray to "the alligator god" that a human head, the only evidence of the brutal murder they committed, would be devoured by a reptile in the Everglades, two witnesses told jurors Thursday.

With the help of an alligator god anything is possible.

It was probably just ignoring these guys.

Of course, the alligator god requires a blood sacrifice for every prayer... any educated backwoods redneck knows that

I know for sure, they were not properly giving the required sacrifices and or blood offerings needed to rouse from its timeless sleep the ancient behemoth known to the locals as The Alligator God, several cultures have reference to this timeless being from beyond time and space and his lair at the swampy edge of the known universe, or perhaps out of it.

The Egyptians knew him as "Sobek" and its a well known fact, that Asiatic countries like Cambodia have strong references to the Cocodrile God so strong they have managed to put their local species of cocodrile in reservoirs to avoid extinction as they are still worshiped today. Even not so far from here, Cocodrile alongside Jaguar in Mesoamerican cultures were strong spirits to be revered, appeased or worshiped.

Also some cultures instead of worshiping the Cocodrile God decided to emulate it, like this tribe from New Guinea
, where it is a ritual of passage to become Cocodrile itself.

The chinese have a particular spot for Cocodrile too.

So yep, he does exist, existed and will continue to exist as long as there are people able to remember him and rouse him from his nether chambers in the great beyond.

It simply boils down, in my very humble scholarly opinion to a small but excellent short story by Lovecraft, where he captured the essence of Reptilian Gods, they DO rouse and answer the calls of its worshipers, just not in time , since time for them flows differently, and I can point out to "The Doom that Came to Sarnath"
as a plausible explanation to why Cocodrile God failed to devour the head these cultists wanted it to devour.

If you look closely enough, Cocodrile God HAS ALWAYS been there for you. You just have ignored him/her/it.
