CCP, how about some soft dates?

CCP, I have read the CSM minutes.
I follow the dev blogs.
I read interviews by the devs and game designers.

There have been numerous "big" changes that you have mentioned at one time or another.
How about doing two things:

1. Tell us if one of the big changes is still on the table, or has been decided against.
2. If the change is still on the table, how about giving us some rough ideas about implementation dates.

I realize that you are in a state of flux, trying to find the direction of Eve going forward, and you are loathe to commit to anything before then. But here is a list of concepts that your devs have stated are on the table, and we have a right as customers to know if they are still on the table, and if so, when we can expect them.

Some of the list includes, in no order of any kind:
1. Static moon goo mining replaced by dynamic ring mining.
2. OGB being removed, and T2/T3 CS's being altered.
3. POS overhaul.

I am sure there are a litany of other concepts that the devs/designers have stated they were looking at, but these ones jump out at me.

So how about giving us a definitive thumbs down or up, and then a rough idea when they will be implemented, if thumbs up.

Nothing you ask for is going to be commented on, because committing or even appearing to commit to (and you're naive if you don't think even a "soft date" would be taken as a commitment by players) a feature six/12/24 months into the future is a bad, bad thing to do. Similarly, recent blowback over POS is likely to make CCP even less willing to publicly say "We might do X" or "We think X is a cool idea", since players unfortunately tend to hear "We're doing X" and then get very upset when CCP says "Wait, what? We're not actually doing X" or "X has been delayed."

The CSM meeting was about discussing what topics they wanted to do, right now they are in the planning stages what the specifics are, how they are going to implement them and how long they MIGHT take.

Even after all this planing is done all we'll get are dev blogs about what the features are and not about when they'll be getting here other than "this summer".

The game development industry is rather volatile (as in software development in general when working on a large and established system with 100s of 1000s of users) so even setting a range as large as a month can still be too small at times. Hell, sometimes features might even be moved back to the whole next expansion in which case the soft date can be "sometime in 2013", being about as accurate as you can get.

Considering WIS and Modular Pos ideas have been on the table for 6+ years......just how soft a target do you want? Shocked

It’s funny how soft dates go to hard dates then promises, and suddenly guarantees on these forums when things don't pan out or are delayed.

Happened many times.

I would say soft dates to address what you are asking are between tomorrow and December 24, 2020.

All right, if soft dates are not reasonable, as simple "yes, we are considering that concept", or a "after consideration, that concept is dropped".

I would really like to know if ring mining is still on the table.
The other 2 concepts I specified I know are still on the table.

Although reading this made my head explode, he's right!

OP, about you, me and the others that don't work for CCP:

- We're pretty bad at receiving messages from CCP.
- We tend of extrapolate poorly from insufficient info
- We tend to misread what's written
- We always moan if it's not exactly what we wanted
- We can't actually see beyond the ends of our noses (but we like to pretend we do!)

Still, we endure the wait

You shouldn't play just hoping the changes and features you want to actually make it a fulfilling experience finally limps along. You play for what is currently available. If you are only playing eve for the hopes of WiS or personal player housing concept of POS, ring mining etc. You are playing for the wrong reason and should unsubscribe tell it ever happens.
Too many see fanfests or minutes as "coming soon" content. And no matter what CCP says, people will see what they want. They subscribe, then later get bitter when what they thought was coming never ends up happening, or not to the extent they would have liked. But CCP marches on, selling the ideas of the future.
