While I haven't spent much time in wormholes to this day, I did find out pretty quick that they are both fun, and good for reminding you of how little you know about EVE.

First trip into one we take a Thorax, and the most spectacularly bad fit Ferox I have ever had the shame of making. Not as bad as most peoples bad fits, but it still shames me to this day. The hole we entered was a C2, we figured we could handle this right? Wrong, thorax barely made it out, ferox was alright somehow.

Two days later I find a C1 and decide to try it out with just the Ferox. Get in, find a nice site, get started, didn't think of watching D-Scan back in those days. After warping away a few times to let my cap recharge I am just about done with the site, maybe 3 cruisers left, a nice friendly Rupture comes to say hello with guns blazing.

In the next few minutes I learned two things: one, having FoF missiles on hand in the future wouldn't be a bad idea because ECM drones are a pain, and two, Sleepers really, really hate ECM. All the remaining sleepers ganged up on him, while I sat there trying to maintain a lock and shoot him, tank is holding on, barely, and his point keeps me from slipping away in the free for all.

Sometime later he drops point, calls in the drones, and zips off. I escape long enough to recharge a bit then go back to finishing the few remaining sleepers. Grab loot, leave and call it a day.

So somehow despite essentially making myself one of the easiest targets to kill in a wh I survived. It was almost two months before I set foot in a wh after that, and I was in a drake with a small gang that time.

Now we had two carriers and two escalation spawns in the site and couldn't bring the dreads in because they would have triggered even more sleepers. We also couldn't bring subcaps because they would get blown up. And we couldn't get out because we were scrambled when not in triage anyway. Tbh I was somewhat lost for a few minutes, trying to comprehend how our second carrier had managed to mess up the op in what was basically the only possible way available to him Lol

Eventually we called in a third carrier and tried to clear the sleepers with fighters, but they got so much aggro and did so little damage that it was no use. We decided that we log out and log in only one carrier after next downtime and then clear the site as it was originally planned.

Bringing sub-caps in would have been ok aslong as you had atleast one carrier in triage and armor links (sig reduction link is nice to have to) and used either t3 hulls or massively tanked battleships i.e. abaddons with their resist bonus.

Fighters clear guardians ok if you use firbolgs - the others especially einherji are rubbish against sleepers - with a webby loki (which you can keep alive against 20 guardians with a single triage rep if its properly fit) 9-10 firblogs will kill a guardian in about 2.5 minutes then which isn't ideal but better than nothing. Probably need a couple of lokis so one isn't being constantly neuted out but this also takes aggro away from the fighters.

PS thats one of the best fail posts I've read so far.

A quikfail:

I live in Essin, Metro. A scumbag-infested FW dead-end. So when I see dudes warping pods through gates one way, and ships the other, my gank senses begin tingling. On this account, I'm humping timers in FW complexes. I derelict my duty with the alt as cloaky scout and track a dude's pod back to Ontorn, and watch him warp to the middle of nowhere and disappear.

I probe in. Warp to first random moon. POD with a CHA, frigs, prorator, no guns. I holler on comms "I need a dude with a drake to go rattle a POS shield." expecting to bait them out. Then, a few minutes later, the POS shield just disappears. Then, since there's a CHA still anchored, numpty inc obviously realise they need to online the POS again to unanchor the CHA to unanchor the POS and scoop.

Honestly, should have lurked it till they'd finished, then blitzed them just before they scooped the POS and stole it. But, hell, there was a fleet of 30 dudes bored, so all we got was a Prorator and a CHA with 150Km3 of low-end PI gumf. We couldn't even whore the kills properly.

Thank your for the tip. I was actually considering it, but given that this was our first try and we had already failed so massively, I decided not to experiment *g*

edit: But why are Firbolgs better than Einherj? According to EFT, Firbolgs have less armor HP, are slower, have worse optimal, worse tracking... seem to be inferior on all stats.

I don't actually know entirely why - partly I think einherji end up shooting sleepers a lot deeper into falloff for some reason - it may be that even under ideal conditions einherji just can't orbit close enough to their 1km optimal range whereas firbolgs are getting closer to their 1.5km optimal. (I haven't actually studied it but the combination of faster speed and needing to be closer could potentially result in them overshooting quite a lot).

I was bored one day and had a go at it with the different fighters and then used a log analyser (tho I could tell by the time difference that some where better than others) and firbolgs were consistently coming out on top for applied dps by a fair margin overall. Templars are quite decent under ideal conditions as well but the worse tracking hinders them under less ideal conditions.

I think every time someone whines about T3's being overpowered, that kill needs to be linked.

Ok, i'll make fun of myself over my first WH dual boxing attempt fail. One day I was checking out a K162 into my WH that led to a C2 and I found a guy in a Nado running sites. I quickly found him and watched for awhile in my scangu, he was having a pretty tough time clearing those C2 sites. Not wanting to hang around for too long, and doubting that my three useless stick launchers could break his tank I decided I'll log in my new Legion pilot account for deeps and just point him with my scangu. Bear in mind this was my first attempt at dual-boxing and I was set up all wrong for it (alt-tabbing between accounts as I have one account stretched across two screens). So i log in Legion pilot in my WH. D-scan clear, check. Fleet up with scan pilot, check. Warp to K162 and wait for points, check. Smash D-scan on my main a couple more times to make sure none of his buddies have showed up, decloak, target, point, set orbit, start firing sticks. Everything is going good at this point. Switch back to Legion pilot, jump, activate defensive modules, warp to fleet member. Hell at this point I got this in the bag. Switch back to scangu pilot, sticks have actually got most of his shields down, good, he's firing back but barely scratching my paint. Mash D-scan to make sure none of his buddies are coming to save his ass, and uh-oh there's a f**king Legion on D-scan I gotta get the hell outta here! As scangu warps off to random planet and points drop it hits me, dumbass that was my Legion. Switch over to Legion pilot to attempt some kinda fail salvage and of course Nado is warping off site right as Legion lands. So, I scared myself off of a fight I was winning with my own backup. Epic fail, but hey if you cant laugh at yourself....

yea, there was a short period of time where I considered naming all my ships " Dont run dummy, its you!". Well I figure as long as we learn from our fails, and things have gone alot better since then. Although there was this one time at Scan Camp....

There was one situation i'll remember for a long time.

We cought an orca outside a POS shield. The POS was not armed at all, but it had a second guy sitting inside (hulk) and some hangars online.

Well, as soon as we placed a point on the orca and the first epic bump, the hulk inside panics and oflines the whole tower. Shocked

Pinjada time!

0) Not have your Onyx light up a bubble (no doubt hoping to catch my pod for a kill).
1) Not lose the purifier to drones and HMLs.
2) Not lose the nemesis to drones, HMLs and your own bomb (Roll)
3) Not bring your dramiel (when did you think this was a good idea to begin with?) into small neut range, get caught in the Onyx's bubble and subsequently not only lose your poorly fit Dram, but also get podded and lose some juicy implants.
4) Not bring a Proteus (also into bubble range), then get caught on a structure and almost get popped because you can't warp away before getting into structure.
5) Not wait almost 45 mins before deciding you've lost enough ships/ISK/time and leave the benign drake to go its own way - 2 drones and a few thousand scourge rounds lighter.
6) Bring something with some DPS that won't die when the drake farts at it.

* I admit to derping as well. I'd been taking meds for a cold and was only half-thinking when I decided to run sigs while waiting for meds to kick in again. Bad idea. Really - bad - idea.

Rolled my static and found a bonus WH to a C4. Jumped in to get the ID and look around a little. What do I see? a **** ton of POS mods.... but no sticks and no force fields?

I messed with my overview settings, still no sticks. I warped around until I found my prize. 200m worth of mods setup for what was once a large POS. Scooped it all up, left one mod for whomever left me this present.

Very glad I was able to "rescue" these forgotten items in space. I had been low on sigs in my home system and was in need of a little daily income.
