So scamming the character bazar is okay?

Hi,

sorry if this is kinda a whiney thread but, here we go.

I was buying a character on the bazar 3 days ago. The seller agreed to my offer and I sent him the ISK. He then stated that he received the ISK and wants to transfer the character but he is getting an error while doing so. HE directly opened a petition about it and we are still waiting for the answer. I mean okay, it is just 3 days, but 3 days where I don't have any ISK left (I sent it to buy character) not do I have a character to play with. Any hints on the usual response time on such topics? =/

My advice to you would be to open a petition of your own on the matter. Make sure to include as much detail as you can about the purchase and a GM will look in to it for you. I hope it goes well :)

Unless you bought PLEX in order to have the isk to buy the character, you should have the original character you used to make the isk in the first place. If you went the PLEX route, well, got nothing for you.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Thanks for the response. I did open a petition aswell as I started to be a bit afraid about being scammed 2 days ago but still no reaction of any GM. Well, guess I have to wait (hopefully not some more days) on this.... Rather pain in the a.. as a lot of ISK and even RL money (for transfer) is involved...

I sold my old "main" character and now bought this new toon so no I did not buy PLEX and do not have a toon left. =(

Please be sure you filed the petition under the correct section, Billing -> Character Transfers. Also, please be aware that our billing queue is a bit overwhelmed at the moment and proper investigation of the matter may take some time. If you petitioned, the only thing that can be done is to wait. Hopefully soon you will get an answer.

Yeah I used this section. So I will have to wait I guess.. =/

Any estamiate on how long its going to take? Cause I am now left without a character and any ISK... Days? Weeks?

The problem isn't so much the response times but the fact that there is no notification of the fact that even on a good day a billing petition can take a day or two because of research and external factors (like banks), nor is there any indication that the petition system is overflowing and backlogged unless a dev posts like this.

No one has any idea if:
"Is this normal?"
"Am I at the end of a really long line?"
"How long is that line?"
"How long would it take if there was no line?"
"Did my petition even get through to begin with?"

not sure what you mean.

but the whole bazar is flawed then if ppl can abzse it like that and arent bound to their sale "contracts". takes scamming to a new level as they even abuse ccp personel an time

I do sympathise but what would you have CCP do? Freeze his account?

For all CCP know you're making this up to cause the guy problems. I don't believe that's the case but that is where CCP have to start.

So they'll try to uniquely identify you and the seller, verify you don't have any obvious contacts, check your transaction log, check all the alts (both of you) transaction logs, check current assets, etc etc. In extreme cases they may end up having to check transaction logs of characters already sold to other people (like we discussed in New Citizens).

They will also have to make contact with the seller - he can if he wishes make that difficult by delaying responses, misreading stuff, etc etc.

Its sadly not as straightforward as you think Sad

Hope you get it sorted ASAP.

I am just amazed by the fact that there is so much scamming going on in character bazar. I mean, scams in game are ok and allowed, everyone knows that but the bazar is strictly stated as a non scamming area.

There would be an easy fix to this:

1. Seller makes an advert for the character
2. Buyer makes an offer
3. Seller thinks about the offer and accepts it or not
4. If he accepts he is bound to that and even with payment problems etc the character will be sold in the worst case move by a GM
5. ???
6. Everyone is happy (besides the scammer that wanted to ripoff people)

People are scamming the crap out of players ISK and time wise and are abusing support for HOURS and CCP thinks its fine, pretty funny if I wouldn't be involved on my own...

    I'm still not seeing where you go from having an error during character transfer to him scamming you.

    Try not being hyperemotional and look at this objectively. Is it conceivable that he might be having problems with the transfer? Of course. Is it conceivable that CCP has a tremendous backlog in their petition system and will try to get to you as soon as possible? Yes, because they do. So don't go accusing people of scamming you on character transfer just because someone claims to be having problems with the process. If he actually IS scamming you he's an idiot for trying - my understanding is that holds a rather severe penalty. Chances are much higher you're overreacting.

    Either way you have no proof of a scam, and GMs are more likely to be helpful if your petition isn't hysterical and wildly speculative like your posts.

    I'm probably guilty of introducing that idea to her. She has a duplicate thread in New Citizens where I pointed out the character seems to have been sold four times in the last year.

    Whether it has or not only CCP know.

    Best the thread gets locked TBH, its not going anywhere but down from here.....

    No my petition is just asking them to have a look at the topic and I stated all my accounts and characters so they dont have to ask for that.

    Yeah if I am a bit hysterical here I'm sorry but it just annoys the heck out of me at the moment... So lets hope the support team will answer and the seller is legit... But it is EVE so I think not that this will go too well...

    Scamming in the Character Bazaar is against the rules. If you are scammed in the Bazaar, please petition under Rules & Policies -> Terms of Service & EULA as the player is breaching game rules.
