Just a quick check as i'm still new to the game

which is the cheapest way to extend the game time
1. buy from the add game time option $24.90
2.buddy invites?
3.other option

1. Credit Card subscription $14.95 monthly, or less if you buy 3 / 6 months at a time.
2. PLEX is $20, unless they have a deal. GTC's are two PLEXes and you may be able to find a deal at one of the stores.
3. If you have 600 million ISK in-game, you can use it to buy PLEX with them.

Buddy invite, you're relying on someone else taking up your buddy offer, and since there's a thread at the top of this forum where people give back the PLEX they get from buddy, I doubt anyone will take you up on it.

There's actually a number of options.

  • You could buy a game time card at one of the many online shops that sell them
  • If you have a buddy who will enjoy playing or want a second account, go for a buddy invite, but keep in mind that you'll only get the game time when that buddy actually pays for his/her subscription
  • [*} You could try to accumulate enough ingame wealth to buy a PLEX on the ingame market(usually 450-650 million ISK, not sure what the price is currently at)
  • Upgrade the account directly as you stated

  • There isn't really a 'cheapest' option unless you can get the game time card at a discount. Unless you scam someone you will probably not be able to accumulate the wealth in time, typically people have to buy about 2-3 months of game time before they can start buying PLEX ingame without gimping themselves too much. I'm not actually sure that you can upgrade a trial account using a buddy invite, otherwise this might be open to abuse since you could just recruit a second account for yourself, upgrade the new one, and have 2 accounts for the price of one.

In short, I would advise just using the add game time option the first time, since that includes the fee CCP charges for upgrading your account from a trial to a normal one. If you're thinking long term, consider getting a second account fairly early on so that you can train your 'main' account for PvP and have a second account to supply the main account with the ISK for buying and fitting ships.

    This.

There are a couple or stable ways to subscribe:

1.) Buy PLEX in game using ISK.
    2.) Buy PLEX from CCP.
3.) Buy a recurring subscription from CCP.
4.) Buy GTC (2 x PLEX) from official resellers.

As for buddy invites, there are a lot (as in a metric shitload) of others who already have very lucrative deals. So you will compete with them and by that it won't guarantee that people will use your buddy invite offer, mainly cause if they can choose a buddy invite from you (where you take the reward as in extra game time for yourself) or they can choose someone who gives them the reward PLEX or "x" million ISK after subscribing, which one would you think they will choose.

It depends on what you mean by "cheapest".

If you mean in terms of real-world cash, farming ISK to buy a plex in-game is by far the cheapest.

If you mean in terms of time investment, 15$ for a month of game time equates to one, maybe one and a half hours of hourly work in a first-world country, or as I like to call it "three deli sandwiches".

Buddy invite is only going to work if you have an actual RL friend that wants to play, because they will have to shell out 15$ minimum before you get the plex for the buddy invite.

You can also try to catch someone flying a plex around in a ship and gank them, but that requires a lot of luck.

My offer in the sticky thread gets about two or three nibbles a month. It is still the most favourable offer in that thread. So you would be surprised: people will take less ISK than the PLEX is worth. Why? I have no idea.

I think mine is better as I give them the Plex. They can sell it or use it for gametime, thats their choice. And yes I get around 3 or 4 mails a month too on avg.

I think that just proves that the forum community is a minor part of the playerbase, and the newbie forum especially.
