I have a month or so old char so im still very noob at this game.

so we're at war with another alliance. The day before yesterday we found the WT's in eudema so i knew that was where they hung out and this was all my own fault really.

The next day i was happily missioning for minmitar hen i realised that i have 5.01 (or so) standing and thus access to level 4 missions with them. Im trying to build up standing with the navy of all four major factions evenly so i decided to look for a gallente navy level 3 agent. Found one, set my course and started happily jumping away.

Rather foolishly i didnt check the route and jumped into straight into uedema.

A brutix was waiting on the gate. I was immediatley locked, brutix released hammerhead II's and started closing rapidly. i activated my dc and decided to make a run for the gate.

but the brutix had me webbed and scrammed.

brutix opens fire and started eating through my shields.

i thought f*** this and engaged the target. Ate through his shields but couldnt touch his armor tank for s**t. (i'm only doing 230 odd dps with drones with my skills)

Anyway activated my repper and hardners and hoped for the best. The battle could have gone either way imo but then his buddies warped in and it was all over quickly.

While i was dying i kept the dock/warp/jump hotkey held down and kept spamming warp to a planet. but this didnt work. Alas as soon as i was in my pod they had that scrammed as well.

so i died for the first time lost 60 mill worth of ship and 100mill worth of implants.

Eve is a harsh and brutal game and you know what

You must have been doing something wrong. If you were spamming warp properly there's no way a Brutix could have locked and scrammed you before you warped off.

A quick eve-kill search shows he was done in by an Omen Navy issue, a Thorax, a Phobos, a Brutix, and a Cynabal. My money is on at least one of those ships having a sensor booster (Probably the Cynabal), and poor Bastion wasn't quite as quick on the warp button as he thinks.

Usually the Phobos is the hyper-quick locker in a camp like that, because it has the infi-point.

Oh, I kind of skimmed his post and I thought this was just a 1v1 with him and the Brutix.
Personally if I'm spamming warp I prefer not to use the keyboard. It just feels more secure if I'm repeatedly clicking the button in the selected item window. I think it's because there's absolutely no ambiguity there as to what I'm doing. As a result the only pods I've lost since I've started doing this were because I was in a bubble.

I don't trust the keyboard shortcuts for movement either, I've been burned by the whole "press shortcut the click target" thing. I do use the lock/unlock target keys an awful lot, though.
