Here is one I used with great success. You may wish to start with Artillery, but I think the Mael shines with ACs. Also, some deride cap boosters but I found them the best cap solution for the Mael.

This was the initial fit I used when learning how to fly the Mael in Level 4's - or rather, it was the fit I went to when an Angels mission came in from the agents.

As my skills progressed, I graduated to a T2 XLSB, then a T2 shield boost amp. I picked up a Dread Guristas XLSB later, which improves the burst tank nicely (and gives more CPU and powergrid room), dropped the DC for a third gyro, and upgraded one of the gyros to Republic Fleet.

You'll want to get Shield Operation V and Shield Management V into your queue as priority trains, so you can open up the T2 XLSB and the T2 shield boost amp. You'll also see a nice benefit to your burst tank by training Minmatar Battleship to 4.
