MicroJump Drive and Mission Sniping

I was recently in highsec waiting for my jump clone time to cycle, and I always keep a set of mission ships in my former mission hub for in case I fall on hard times. So I decided to play with the new micro jump drives to see how it affects mission running.

Conclusion - sniping is ALOT more viable now than it used to be. If you start out near the gate, you can MJD in any direction, snipe for a bit, then mjd back in. If you start out away from a gate, you can mjd out at an angle, then mjd in to find yourself right at the gate. This neatly eliminates travel time, which was the biggest hold up for mission sniping in the first place. Additionally, when you are 100+km away from the enemy, you rarely get hit. This allows you to minimize the tank (I was able to tank all of the dozen or so missions I did, including angel extra, vengence, worlds collide, mordus headhunters, and dread pirate scarlet) with a pair of invulns, and occasionally pulsing a large shield booster (usually between missions). This then allows you to maximize DPS, so that way you can throw out the most possible at that range, and maximize your range/transversal, cause rats are still too dumb to fly at you at angles (meaning low transversal and lots of easy shots).

The ship I was using for this was a nightmare, though the rohk, apoc, paladin, kronos, and maelstrom would all work equally well like this. The trick was to, upon landing, choose a direction to align to, mjd towards it, blast away most of the ships, then mjd to the gate while there are still a few ships left. Always keep in mind the 3 min time between uses of the mjd - in a low tank ship, you don't want to be caught warping into a high dps area and not be able to jump away. Due to the minimal amount of damage taken, if you are a new character, this might also be a good way to start running lvl 4 missions.

The other interesting aspect of this is lowsec/nullsec mission running. The MJD runs even in bubbles or when pointed/HIC pointed, it is only disrupted by scrams. This might allow you to effectively get away from many gatecamps (and the use of insta's will get you away from station camps). And when in a mission, if it has gates you can go through and mjd away. This means that if any hostiles come through, you can see them coming and gtfo a little more safely. Do note however that this last bit is theory crafting, and should be taken with a grain of salt.

MJD is very cool for a slowboat like the Domi. Besides kiting it is a most wonderful GTFO button!
