AFK L4 drone boat

Due to the fact I get interrupted a lot in RL, its difficult to mission in a Vargur effectively. So as I'm maxing out drone skills I'm looking for a mission boat that I can leave alone for a few minutes at a time if need be. Since Minmatar doesn't seem to have one, I'm leaning towards either a Navy Domi or Rattlesnake.
Would these boats work with racial ship skills at 4?
Are t2 sentries alone enough?
Cruise or torps on the RS? (I have experience in neither)
Can a mission DNI be passive tanked for L4s?
Even though the RS looks like the better choice, the DNI has the lower pricetag, how do you weigh the risk vs reward?

This is pretty much specifically why the drone AI changes were made.

They'll both work if fit correctly, but don't expect to go AFK and come back with all your drones still in tact.

Err... no. It doesn't do a thing for afk. Just stick RR on those sentries and you're good. The drone changes are mainly to annoy the rest of us.Cool

That's part of why I asked if sentries were enough in case I need to put reps in the hi slots.

You don't need guns if that's what you meant, they're merely additional dps, these large guns can do nothing that sentries can't. Pop initial frig rats at range, bring some meds/lights to mop up the frig rat spawns at end. Use any med-slot ewar to attract aggro, they're far better at it than guns.

I just recently (last night) dusted off my Ishtar. I dont have a lot of testing but what I will say is that with sentries, I don't mind the changes, and in fact it can be helpful.

Sentries can tank like a boss, and they can be RR'd pretty easily.

I did find the times i had to let fly a flight of lights go is annoying. They get aggro way too quickly and take damage way too fast.

I prioritize frigs upon warp-in regardless so I don't lose lights often because by the time I need them, there aren't many frigs left. As for the Ishtar, that's going to be my anom and plex runner once I finish training the necessary drone skills.

Definitely. Anything at range gets blapped easily with sentry drones. But some plexes (one I did last night) spawned a wave 5km from me. Too close to try and hit the frigs with sentries.

Its not that I want to be afk. Its just sometimes things come up that I need to jump out of my chair for a min or two. I try to dock when I can but sometimes its not an option. I'm merely looking for a ship that would survive just in those instances.

For that reason the jovians gave us the MJD. It is a great tool for a drone boat to jump away 100km and start sniping with your sentries.
