caldari in my opinion is supposed to be very similar to minmatar, while both races can fitt turrets and missiles (+ drones),yet it seems caldari ships are designed to be only shield tanking, while minmatar ships, designed to excell in fitting both armour and shield tank.just wondering why would caldari have the same advantage with similar medium/low slots and capable to have balanced tank on both types.

battlecruiser pirate ships.why not?they exist ingame already (blood prophecy, serpentis brutix.guristas ferox, sansha phantasm (at a bigger size?)

introducing them ingame would totaly be awesome especialy with the changing of battlecruiser skill split in into each race.

They would be cool, though some would be redundant, such as the dread guristas one would be not quite a rattlesnake but more than a gila.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

Nothing against the pirat faction BC. I would also approve pirate faction destroyer.

But what is your problem with armour tanking on Caldari ships?

Gallente and Amarr are both mainly armour tanker and both use drones or turrets. But Gallente got the better ships for shield tanking. So what?

You need at least 4 free slots for a good tank either shield or armour after my opinion, with less you should be fast and small.
I would agree while you easily can fit a shield tank on most Amarr ships to have a lot of low slots for DPS. For Caldari ships you can only use an armour tank for an Ewar ship. Out of couriousity I just made an armour tank fit for a Scorpion and i would be able to get over 70k EHP with a buffer tank, with a widow you could do the same and got 8 mid slots free for EWAR and propulsion moduls. Enough to blind a half squadron...

Yes, the corporate communists are oh so similar to the rebels armed with duck tape and crossed fingers...

It all sort of balances as so:
Amarr: Pure armour tank with lasers and drones.
Gallente: Armour tank and possible shield options with hybrids and drones.
Minmatar: Shield tank and possible armour options with projectiles and missiles.
Caldari: Pure shield tank with missiles and hybrids.

It's funny that the pure armour and pure shield races are allies but hey. They also are the ones to recieve resist bonuses on their ships. I also only listed the primary and secondary weapon systems used by the races in T1 ships, as T2 and T3 are both specialist options.

I would like to point out that the races that are dependant on cap for their primary weapon systems are the armour tankers, because armour tanking is more cap efficient than shield tanking. That's why the shield tankers use weapons that are not cap dependant.

Oh wow. Even if you tried really hard, I don't think you could be more wrong.
Caldari were designed as the shield equivilent to Amarr.
Notice that while one uses shield and one uses armour, both favour strong buffer defenses and damage projection over speed.

Then you've got Gallente and Minmatar. Both are built to use speed, either to close range or to keep the enemy at a distance. Both races also have a good bit of flexibility in how they tank their ships, with several each for armour and shield and several that work equally well with either (E.g. Myrmidon, Hurricane.)

The only similarity Caldari has to Minmatar is that both have a fair number of missile ships. Other than that they couldn't be more different really.
