Retribution Ruined my Eve.

With the changes to Retribution my enjoyment of the game has been destroyed.
Everything I enjoyed has now been removed or changed.

1. Downtime Faction and Officer Hunting.
Exploit? seriously? This was great fun because it was a rush around the belts in NPC space across as many systems as you could check.
It also created traffic in what is now a very dead area of space apart from a few key mission running systems.
So this one apparent exploit created fun and PVP in the area where I live.
Not any more, now there is no reason to check belts, log in after downtime, ratting seems to have taken a massive hit also, to me it feels the rarity of faction spawns has also been affected and drops appear to be worse.

What does this mean, as I said traffic has decreased, the bigger entities now clog up the mission running systems and everywhere else is largely dead space.
No need to travel means less targets in an already quietish area of space.

2. Rat aggression changes.
Solo hunting got even harder. Now the rats agress me when I find someone in a belt??
Way to ruin the fun for solo pvp CCP.
So now it is harder to gank and solo hunt mission runners and ratters.

3. Increased difficulty to scan plexing/mission running targets.
With the new skills and fits used in line with these skills you can make your T3 very hard to scan, close to impossible with max skills alone in some respects.
Again this reduces targt opportunities and increases the saftey of the carebear in what should be very dangerous areas of space.

It feels to me that this patch has buffed caerbears much more than anyone else.
For me and the NPC space in which I live the above changes have ruined the game I loved to play.

I have little time for Eve these days due to having children/job and so on.
What time I had available was enjoyed until this patch hit.

I do hope the near future of Eve will introduce some changes to NPC space to make it fun again.
I have enjoyed all aspects of Eve game play over the years and NPC solo/small gang life is very fitting for my busy life outside of Eve.

I guess what I'm saying is that I am not the majority but it's a shame that changes outlined above can have a much bigger impact on game play and lack of enjoyment than CCP probably invisioned.
I'm sure their are many people out there that love the new content and changes.

This is the first patch I have disliked that affected the way I play the game so much.

I hope CCP are listening and I hope enjoyment can be put back into the game with some NPC nullsec love.

1. Any content that INTENSLY favors people of a particular timezone is bad mkay?

2. Are you really complaining that killing pve'ers is to hard because the rats are mean too you? =P

3. Retribution also gave you the bestestestestest scanning thing EVAR, which is the instant 5°scan.

With regards to the changes making ships harder to scan down, your mistaken. The skills that increase sensor strength make it easier to scan a target down, not harder.

Its more to do with the fact that solo stuff became a lot harder to do.

Whether this be PVP or PVE related.
I enjoyed my game play experience of Eve and now that has drastically changed.

I'm not sure what the answer is now. considering other avenues but I've done all other content, just so happens that my life pre retribution in NPC nullsec fitted perfectly for my play style.

I'm suprised to not hear from others telling a similar story.

Sorry but I missed the point of your post. Are you QQing because it's harder to carebear or are you QQing because it's harder to be a pirate in 0.0?

Times have changed, I know this but my game play is broken.

I'm not questioning anything just moaning because the game I loved has changed.
Hoping that my one voice will at least be heard and wanted to understand if there were others like me out there experiencing the same unwanted changes to their game play.

My issues are more about PVP but they also affect the PVE side.

If you want your voice to be heard, stop hiding behind an NPC corp alt.

this basically.

Also 3 was because of ecm. Loki and tnegu got harder to find, but more people at least have some added protection against ecm. Also for 3 even in the days of unprobable you could find a ratter. Scan down the pve sites. You have a chance the hard to find ratter is overconfident. Find out the den where the bear is chilling and you could surprise him.

The NPC aggro....hate to say it but well....I am sure you didn't mind it when then the rats were helping you out with the kill. Now its jsut gone full circle. Also since people mentioniong this alot it seems ratters are more likely to hang about more. take the good with the bad. I did some 0.0 roams way back by the time you were in system all the ratters safe pos'd up an on smoke breaks. harder to kill, but they are around to kill it seems.

I always become sad because of my own nature when somebody looses an ability to enjoy in their freetime. Whether in game or irl, the result is less giggles in the face. So, I hope there will be new ways created for your playstyle.

But mister, make no mistake, some of those changes were affected my gaming too, but I liked them becoming harder. Because this game has steeper learning curve than any other game. This game is not one of those which you can "take your corpse and run away". Harder is better, because I've always searched for a game which decisions have much more effect than the other titles.

I partly "was" one of the carebears you mentioned in high-sec. But I suspect you haven't played a lvl4 solo mission yet (after the retri patch). I was a money grinding machine with my shiny shiny Vargur. Think it like a solo missioner who can do worlds collide, dread pirate scarlet, angel extravaganza+bonus, recon1/2 (not blitzing) and many many other "crowded and shoot+tank+pop" missions. With my tractor beams and a salvager, very little amount of people around me was earning more isk/ph than I could.

Sometimes I would like to go with a tank corpmate before me so he can tank and I can dps, which results in very hard/long missions finishing under 15-20 min.

Why am I telling this? I got to home from work, having around 1,5 hour of playtime. Jumped into my cocpit of Vargur, hit accept to the next serpentis mission, 2xkin, 2 therm active hardeners, a shiny SB and a painter, phased plasmas, let's go! Warped to the mission site, locked the first target, shot couple of times and then... then... hell I cannot target anyone. What happened? 5-6 dampeners on me? Couldn't even target the guy who warp scrambled me!

At this moment I started to sweat, because I've never had to cycle my shield booster this much, I waited dampeners to finish, caught a little jitter between their cycles, targeted the scrambler guy and sent my drones. At this point, I had a targeting range of 14km. When I was escaping with leaving my drones behind, my hull was screaming at ~75 percent, burning, smoking, crying... I've never seen my marauder in that condition.

I called my friend to help me with his Raven Navy Issue as tank. I fit even more for dps, leaving two hardeners. We warped to the mission gate, he went first. He told me "I've all the room agro", I warped in. Now, remember the point you made about npc's agressing you in the belts and things are favored to carebears? That mechanic absolutely worked for us also! All those NPCs switched to me, that was the worst nightmare I've ever seen with my Vargur. Which means no more tanking in missions. I managed to run away with some armor left.

At this point I have;
- My isk/h greatly reduced.
- My Vargur about to be destroyed by a regular npc?
- Learned that missions are no longer to be tanked by a single person.
- Npcs are using ewars more frequently.

After this, I started to yell "CCP, you .... what the xxx you've done", "My isk/hour nooo!" crys... "I have a marauder make me god of pve!!!" ... Whoops, wrong story.

I returned to base, fit for more tank, including two targeting range scripted sebo II. Viola! That was the solution and I adapted to it. On the later days, we saw that we need to run away-come back to hard areas like bonus room in angel extravaganza. No problem, I even had to left during one mission because I had to eat, docked up - came back after food is finished. When we entered to the mission area, I was excited much more "how much will these guys go harder on us?".

Missioning is a little bit better now. Better doesn't necessarily means "more isk/hour." Now I have to think about who can do what. With these excitements on, I started to do pvp also, much less carebearing. Taking more risks, spending some more time. I successfully adapted and expanded my playstyle and vision for this game.

I hope I didn't offend anyone, because my intention is to tell how I experienced problems alike Baitman and how I encountered them.

Fly Safe ;)

Shivanthar, I appreciate the post and enjoyed the read.

I put off posting here for a while with my issues.
Mainly because I knew the types of responses but if you don't make your voice heard whats the point.

What I enjoyed in Eve is now mostly gone which was the fun experience of a solo player living in NPC.
There's no fixing the changes and no adapting because I don't have the time to play with others as the times that I can play are few and irratic.

Here's hoping to some solo enjoyment being restored in future patches.

Don't forget us CCP.
