Anyone here checked out Black Prophecy? is it any good? It's free.

Anyone played Perpetuum lately? It was amusing, but much behind eve.

Anyone checkout out Jumpgate? did it totally die off?
Always ... Never ... Forget to check your references.   Peace out Zulu! Hope you land well!

Here are a bunch of 3D Space MMO's.

Released

Vendetta Online: Space Fighter Jet version of EVE Online. Can be played on an Android Phone. Has 20 odd systems with hundreds of Grids, Missions, Piracy, Faction/Clan Wars, Mining and Open PvP. $10 Sub

Website: http://www.vendetta-online.com/

Battlestar Galactica Online: PvP based with a mix of Fighter Combat with larger Escorts and Battleships. Has 12 different Ships per faction. There is very little PvE in the game except for kill 10 of X and Open World Mobs. Game has open world PvP and Arena PvP. It is a Sandbox Game. Game is in full 3d yet is played in a Browser with no client download. F2P

Website: http://en.battlestar-galactica.bigpoint.com/

Dark Space: I tried this one for a couple of hours. It has hundreds of Ships to fly from corvettes all the way to massive Dreadnoughts. Very small community and is free to play. Even though MMORPG.com says so it is not an MMORTS but has single ship control. Game has PI and from what I saw is a Sandbox. One of the most Hidden Gems out there. F2P

Website: http://darkspace.net/

Star Trek Online: STO is supposed to go F2P in November. I have not tried it but it does have a lot of content. F2P soon.

Website: http://www.startrekonline.com/

Jumpgate the Reconstruction Initiative: The original Jumpgate run by a new company. Sub $10

Website: http://www.jossh.com/join_today/index.html

Black Prophecy: I tried this one. Excellent Graphics and a comprehensive design. It has Missions, Trading, Ship Customization, Crafting, Clan Stations and PvP Missions / Clan PvP Wars and is completely based around Fighter Combat.

Games that are currently in Development.

Star Conflict: It is a little known title. They are a lobby based PvP Game much like World of Tanks set in Space. Plans to be F2P

Website: http://www.star-conflict.com/en/

Line of Defense: Expected to role out at the end of 2011 this game will have both ground Air and Space Combat. Hybrid Sub/F2P Model.

Website: http://3000ad.com/lod/

Galactic Command Online: Same Developer as Line of Defense with more emphasis on Space. Hybrid F2P/Sub.

Not played any other MMOs at all...

In fact, EVE is the first and only game i have ever played online at all.

Other MMOs do sound interesting, but they would divert me from EVE :-(

Just remember kids.

Free to play doesnt mean free to play. It means pay to win.

Why Can't I have a picture signature.

Also please support graphical immersion, bring back the art that brought people to EvE online originaly.

I was reading the Battlestar Galactica Forums and I swear to god someone said:

I like it because it is free but I don't think it is pay to win. I only spent $200.

The Game had been out only 5 Months.

BGO is very P2W.

I can't play black prophecy because I'm in Australia, and they have IP blocked the whole of Australia, alone with other countries they aren't directly launching in, because **** the global internet apparently.

Its a shame, because I rather wanted to play black prophecy, but I won't support wankers.

Startrek online is crap, all browser based games are terrible, but starjack online is quite good.

Its a 4XMMO with very limited graphics and a clusterfuck of an interface. It reminds me of eve when it was first launched..

I play BGO. I spent 10 euros already. But since I'm paying for eve (2 accounts) I can't afford much more. I'm level 15 now.

To: Alara IonStorm

What do you think BGO is sandbox?

Its not. It has many servers. Sandbox means 1 server and 1 game only. All players on the same server. BGO is far from that.

Re-check that definition there.

Wikipedia wrote:
The term is sometimes used interchangeably with "sandbox" and "free-roaming"; however, the terms open world and free-roaming describe the game environment itself and allude more to the absence of artificial barriers, in contrast to the invisible walls and loading screens that are common in linear level designs. The term sandbox refers more to the mechanics of a game and how, as in a physical sandbox, the user is entertained by his ability to play creatively and with there being "no right way" of playing the game.

Sandbox Game: Players are free to go wherever they like within the game environment. These are also referred to as “free roam” games. The character that you play can navigate around the environment, explore, and complete goals and missions at their own pace. This differs from a linear game, in which you are required to take specific paths everywhere you go. Notable games of this genre include the Grand Theft Auto series and the Smugglers Run series.

Grand theft auto is a Sandbox Game, so is Legend of Zelda and Mercenaries. They do not have severs. It's non-linear game play. Battlestar Galactica has no levels and an Open World making it a Sandbox.

Why do you think Sandboxes are exclusive to MMO's let alone Single Shard ones?

It sounds like many sandboxes, where you'd prefer one.

I didnt look for explanation for sandbox before I post. Well I gues I should look first. I ended look stupid now.

Because of EVE. But now I remember 2 non-linear singleplayer games X1 and X2. They are also sendbox.

I just bought Scyte but I mostly fly Viper MK VII. I also own raptor.

My nickname is Johnclea

I tried to fight other players but I always loose. Can you fly on side and stay turned to targe?

* Set the Camera to follow.
* Then use the mouse control to to follow them.
* Keep your speed around 30% and use the boost when they get in side to escape.
* Hold the A or D key to make your turn tighter.

It's all about out turning them. To do that you have to get inside there turn. the A and D key helps with that. If they are getting clean shots you have to bank towards them and boost to force them back onto the outside.

Remember to use Red Tips, like faction Ammo in EVE and always get your Guns to 4-5 and Adv your Ship. I hated my Banshee till I Advanced it.

My Fits

Banshee

Front = 2 Long Range Guns
Sides = 4 Short Range Guns

Computer = 2 Targeting Computers

Engine = 2 Gyro 3 Boost Enhance

Armor = 2 Hull Plates

Raider

Weapons = 4 Short Range Guns

Computer = 1 Targeting Computer 1 Avionics Cluster

Engine = 3 Gyro 2 Boost Enhance

Armor = 2 Hull Plates

Marauder

Weapons = 4 Short Range Guns

Computer = 1 Targeting Computer 1 Avionics Cluster

Engine = 2 Gyro

Armor = 4 Hull Plates 1 Damage Controls

I play Runes of Magic sometimes, which is a good example for pay2win. One of the elite players told me that it is almost impossible to participate in the high end instances under $1000 spend in stuff to improve the gear.. thats just sick. And it looks like people pay that much. Thats like 8 years worth of eve subscription or something?

And the best thing is, every new expansion makes your gear worthless because there is now stuff that is exactly the same but slightly better.

And don't get me started about the community! The emoteenrage in that game is something never seen.
