Removing Local Intel

Dear CCP,

I understand that you are taking feedback on removing local. There have been a lot of whine/scream/complain about local being too good etc from the low and nullsec residence.

I would like to highlight that local serves much more than just intel. For me, local has been a major source of meeting people in lowsec (where I primarily lives). Although my corp is a 'highsec' corp and most of my corpmates are highseccer, I live in lowsec 90% of the time. With no corpmates in lowsec and as an 'EvE born', I find local as a great way to say hi (o/) and 'meet' with people there. I am not too concern with pirates; i don't mind losing my hyper bling ship since I earn enough in lowsec to cover them (don't fly what you cannot afford to lose). I am sure that my experience is shared by many in EvE and not unique. I don't enjoy WH for reasons that it 'feels' empty and no interaction.

IMHO, EvE is a 'social' game. If we are solely interested in pixelated spaceship, there are others in the market that offer 'better' graphic and mechanics (X series anyone?) - however, the social aspect of EvE makes it unique (in good and bad way).

If CCP removes local completely, I fear that some part of the social aspect of EvE will be lost and the game will be worse off.

Please do not completely remove Local... this is a social game not just an internet spaceship pew pew game.

I dont think Local should be removed either. but i dont think it should have the list of everyone on it, just those who have spoken recently. I would much rather we have a window that contains various info as we might gather from the star map about the system we are in instead, complete with its' various delays and ambiguity about identities.
This would actually be a plus in ways. If I am in a system, I might be interested to know about a recent spike in pod killing.

People who advocate for the removal of local simply think that 0.0 will become a roaming paradise. It won't, and all of the potential targets will simply put PvE alts in hisec, which is now much safer than ever before. Mining would (probably) not take a serious hit since the only added effort would be dscanning for probes, since most 0.0 mining is done in grav sites.

Unfortunately, that will nerf the social aspect of the game (at least for me). I roam alot. Whenever I jump into the system and meet people, I start chatting with them.

I am not a member of 10,000 alliances that can meet thousands of people everyday. I like the social aspect of the game and at the same time do a bit of pew pew.. nerfing local will definitely affect my [in game] social life.

I believe null is less relevant since whenever i roam in nullsec, i hardly meet anyone there. Local seems to be less relevant. However lowsec is still fairly populated.

Interestingly, i find local in highsec to be quite useless. The channel is either full of spammers or there are too many people to be able to actually talk to them (1453 people in local?).

What do you think about a 30 second delay, rather than instantaneous like it is now?

You can still say hi or hello even if local is delayed like in wormholes. Might not get a response, but I've met a lot of people in wormholes just by saying hi.

If anything just merge local with const chat. That way you still have the social aspect, without the ability to gain immediate intel on x system. Even with removing local you could still be social, since the people who are going to talk in local will do so anyways, or not at all. That part won't change much.

So, once again we go down the path of "I want to get easier kills on 0.0 carebears....REMOVE LOCAL!"

Get better at flying your ship, maybe find a ship that can and is willing to fight back......Shocked

What about just making an obligatory "constellation chat" or simply clustering systems so immediate local chat works if you are in the same "cluster" but still works like w-space for everyone in the same system? I would also keep the total number of players in local showing.

doesn't seem to help wormholes, delayed local is there and it is statistically the safest sec-space other then highsec
