is there any differences in the amount of radar, magnetometric, ded complexes sites and unknown sites that can be found in 1.0 vs .5 security systems? is the loot any different? .... or is high sec exploration pretty much the same across the board in all high sec systems....

looking to move into lowsec exploration in the near future also, so wondering the same for that... is .1 the same as .4?

The number of sites is supposedly the same but as a rule of thumb the quality of loot goes up as the "True-sec" of a system goes down. So yes the loot in a 1.0 is worse than that in a 0.8 which is worse than that in a 0.5. etc. etc. This applies to nearly all randomly generated loot, from belt rats to mission salvage to hacking cans.

I specifically say true - sec because null sec (Shown as 0.0) ranges from 0.0 to -1.0

IIRC the number of sites within any given constellation is somewhat static. The mechanics behind where those sites are what they spawn as and how often they spawn is unclear to me though.

I can safely say that lowsec rad/mag loot is indeed better, but because exploration is kind of chance-based you may still have a crappy experience one day, and hit the jackpot the next. You just have to stick with it if your first site is only a marginal step up from hisec. Then you have just hit a crappy site or had bad luck cycling your mods. In the long run it's far more rewarding then hisec. It just comes with lowsec risks which, according to a part of the playerbase, isn't worth it. I personally do not agree with this sentiment because I (kinda) learned how to not make a target of myself and generally do these sites in affordable, practical fits.

The biggest factor in the difference between hi/low sec, is the player competion for sites.
It can be a real issue in hi, but in a quiet patch of low, you can go days without seeing another explorer.
So it seems like there are loads more sites.

hey all... thanks for the replies. i do totally understand that lowsec sites are better than highsec sites.

what i didnt know, is if there is a difference in 1.0 vs 0.6 sites in highsec?

and same goes for lowsec ---- are there better sites in a .1 system vs a .4 system?

I can't point you to any definitive formula or chart, but from experience I'd say no way. The quality is very random.

I'd say each site is pre-defined; if you get a Serpentis Forlorn Hideaway you get exactly those NPC ships to spawn inside it (and they have the same stats/fittings as always, and the same loot table, though of course the loot is rolled randomly from the table).

I'm not sure if, statistically, the 0.5 systems get more of the better/higher sites; I don't think anyone's kept track. To me it looks pretty random.
