About 3 weeks ago, before the layoffs and so on, we got this Dev comment:

CCP Solomon wrote:
Just incase there was any uncertainty, yes, we are refocussing on spaceships, but don't put your spacelegs away just yet, they will be needed Big smile

Now with all the recent changes, should we still keep our spacelegs at the ready?

At the ready for winter?

I believe that there will be minor additions to WiS. However, as CCP has clearly stated in the last several dev blogs, they will be focusing on FiS, game mechanics/bugs, ship balancing and FiS content in general.

Hope you're not disappointed. Cause i'm not. Big smile

The focus for EVE will be on flying in space but we are still rolling out the other three Captain's Quarters with the Winter 2011 release.

Once the players stop complaining about things in the game, and start to only complain about each other then CCP will resume working on Incarna, without telling anyone.

They have made some progress in that path already... they gave us a lot of very good news and already a lot of people are complaining about goons and such because they have nothing better to complain about.

The world is a community of idiots doing a series of things until it explodes and we all die.

If CCP continues to push Incarna out in the future, they need to find ways to provide more of the original 2008 Incarna content and less of the "shameless microtransaction money-grab" to quote Brendan from Massively. This current situation is not just a "bump because some bad players refuse to see the awesomeness of CCP's vision.". The vision was good back at 2008. Dunno what happened to it after that.

People still want Incarna, but not with cost of FiS and not without actual content. It also has to flow with the lore to succeed. Take a moment to refresh your memories with Torfi's presentation from 2008 and you may realize what went wrong with perfectly good plan..

We´ve built a lot of solid character tech that can be used for all kinds of great game play in the future. Right now our focus will be on classic EVE game play, as we've committed to, so all that is on ice while we figure out what we want to do with it. And more importantly...what you guys want us to do with it.

I'm kind of wondering how the design went from that to what we got. :(

Here's what I suggest. You take that dagger that you used to kill WoD and drive it into the heart of WiS. That's a great suggestion.

Now here's an excellent idea for you to spend AUR on. Buying ship skins that are permanent for your ship of preference on an individual basis and only the end-user sees it, not other players as to keep game loading to a minimum.

Player A sees his ship w/ the skins that he picked.
Player B sees A's ship with just the normal look.

This is the line what explains why "new" Incarna failed and was not accepted.

I know what I would like to see (when your ready):

If i choose to leave my ship: animation of the process, from ship to POD to CQ (can be skipped by hitting "ESC" or turned off in settings, for those who don't want to see it), as shown in previous years of teaser videos.

From there, in the least minimum, player BAR and CASINO's for making a purpose of WiS and NEX vanity items so players can actually interact. And for giggles, at least the ability to punch and kick (and knockout) for those that are at war and run into each other at the bar/casino....merely for LULZ might have to put a aggression timer to prevent exploitation and gang fights =)

if running from location to location takes too long, maybe a shuttle like we see in the hangar can transport the toon? or a lightrail/train?

soo many possibilities, just going to have to be Ninja Devs about it, while focusing most of your efforts in FIS classic EVE, make WIS 10/% of your efforts?

people still want it, as someone above me said

I think Incarna would have gone over better if it were more like the video linked above, and released with at least what was shown in the video instead of the 1 room CQ that doesn't look anything like the video CQ. I think it would have been pretty kewl for the pod thing and maybe an animation showing you getting out of it etc. That, and rinky dink cheap NeX items instead of how it was launched, add the expensive stuff later once people get used to the idea of buying NeX items via $$ > Plex conversions. Being able to sell NeX items on the market though was a good move, a lot of games make the items you get from MT stores bound to your character. Definitely need to keep that in mind moving forward, that way people who don't want to spend $$ can at least spend isk to get the same items.
