Stealth Patch this morning?

Went to go log on this morning and noticed what appeared to be a client update to version 8.20.467201
however there doesn't appear to be an update to the patchnotes http://community.eveonline.com/updates/patchnotes.asp to reflect this change.

Did I miss something or do I just need more coffee this morning? Or is CCP stealth patching and we have to guess what changes were made?

It's not exactly the first time that's happened.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

Tranquility was up when I loaded the launcher but down by the time I tried to log in. I have no idea what's going on.

Well not so much a 'stealth' patch as a 6.18GB download after the Mac launcher was updated. That's 6-7 hours on a 2MB DSL.

Normally if it's an incremental patch it just downloads the extra xxMB patch from the launcher then preceeds to the main window.

Launched EVE Online, got a message about a new build when first launching to login/pass window. Selected yes; the game relaunched and downloaded a new launcher (v.1.32) that in turn launched and now shows;

Quote:
2/4 Creating EVE_Online_0-467201_mac.patch: 51.0% - Downloading 0 MB/ 6.18GB

It's downloading now.

Presumably it is the data patch for the new build scheduled for tomorrow;

Quote:
Extended downtime on January 10 for Dust 514 migration to Tranquility

reported by CCP Eterne | 2013-01-07T03:50:00Z

On Thursday, January 10, the regularly scheduled downtime will be extended to 5 hours and 15 minutes starting at 07:00 to 12:15 UTC....

Not sure why it is already downloading 24 hours early, so now wont be able to get back in game until after tomorrows downtime, as I assume the server will not have the new build until then? Or just some Mac patch shizzle and decides to redownload the whole client...

As you say, no new patch notes or any other explanation for this build release today.

ya i'd say your downloading the entire client again

i didn't catch the patch size but it was done in like 10 seconds so i assume only like 5MB

Yep looks that way.

Had a response back from the Mac TS forum and decided to stop the download. Launched from the original client and it patched no problem. But the EVE clone maker copy is still trying to download the whole game so think I'll trash it and make another.

Guessing it was something to do with launching from the clone copy initially and/ or something to do with Tranquility having a hiccup at the time of launching.

Why should the exploiters be told of upcoming patches?
Let them find out the hardway, would you also like a tissue?

I'm not saying they should, but the usual patching protocol includes saying what they changed AFTER they change it. Even if only to say "Fixed exploit".

I wanted to see if anyone else had experienced the same thing and if yes indeed the client version had changed, that's why I made the thread.

Don't know who pi**ed in your Wheaties this morning, but it's NOT a whine thread so no I don't need a tissue.

We should probably freak out about this and put the rumor mill into overdrive. Ill go grab more tinfoil as we will be needing more hats.

Found what they patched
Drop rate on salvage was punted down 5%, probably to account for the new lower amount done due to ai change.

Maybe fix the chat window/fitting bug many people encountered last night?
