So I recently found a sci fi sandbox game for my Kindle Fire (apparently it's going for the Steam Greenlight too), hooked by the promise of sandbox, and the X-Series-like ability to send out multiple ships besides the one you're flying.

Then I played it. It's.....EVE mobile, essentially. Backstory doesn't even compare, setting actually kind of sucks, controls are a bit weird but I could get used to them. It's called Dangerous by Binary Helix.

But the mechanics are basically EVE. Hi slots (guns (shoots straight ahead), turrets, missiles behave as Lasers/Projectiles/Hybrids and missiles in EVE), mid slots (Shield, probably more, haven't played a whole lot yet), and low slots (armor and hull). Keep at Range, Orbit are both there, though there's a free-flying option. Mining, trade, warping, stations, etc.

There are hangars, some sort of Corporate deal built in, and the ships have a button of stats. Sorry, that's butt ton of stats, most of them EVE-related.

Am I claiming ripoff? No. That would be Perpetuum.

I do think that someone put a lot of effort into trying to take what makes EVE great, make their own engine, and try a few tweaks. Not sure if I like the tweaks just yet, but whatever.

So until I can take EVE with me on my Kindle Fire (or my iPad whenever I eventually get it), this is a decent replacement. it also has paid and unpaid versions. woo.

Sooo... a tablet game that takes the MMO part out of EVE, but keeps all the boring mechanics in?

What part of that should I be interested in?

Single player EVE is about the most boring thing I can imagine.

Ib4 moved to OoPD

Really, what the hell is it with all these kids wanting mobile versions for full fledged games.

This has been mentioned before, it's a good game I've been playing it for a good few months the new he version is ok but not worth the money until the UI is refurbished.

An Eve like game on a touch device must really be awful. Its just not practical.

Angry birds is about the level to be practical for a touch device.
