I've trained up my support skills (Engineering, Capacitor,Electronics etc) to 4/5 and I'm starting to begin to focus on Caldari ships and missiles/Shield . Most of my Engineering Skills are level 4/5 aswell, so shield aren't a top priority

I have remaps available, I'm not positive on what to remap my skills for the long train to focus on missiles.

Is the Alt you post with the character you ask for?

1. Then I recommend to save your (Bonus?)-Remaps for later. Stick with something balanced for at least another year. In the first one or two years you probably will jump between different skills which need different stats alot.

2. When you really really really.... know what you are going to train for the next year, I recommend using EVEMon to make up a skillplan. Than you are able to let EVEMon calculate which remap suits best. But then keep in mind, whatever you are going to skill in that year: if it isn't in the calculated skillplan for the year, it may ruin the time you safe because of the remap. This may happen because of your Corp ("we need more Alts who are able to create cynofields" etc.) or because your preferences change ("Let's see, this planetary interaction sounds interessting." etc.). I'll second this.

Early in an eve career heavy remaps to two attributes will cost you because to get a balanced young toon you need to train skills encompassing/using all the attributes. If you just focus on perception and willpower based skills say, then you will end up lacking in skills you are avoiding due to your remap. It is really only for those specializing after having baisic skills trained across the board..example going for capitals, or taking some t2 ship skills or other long ones to V...as these are longer trains 6months to a year to finish (not the skill but the skill plan for specialized t2 ships and caps)

Again don't waste remaps on basic shield and weaponry skills.

A lot of this depends on how much gimping you're willing to accept early on, as a long-term investment in getting more SP. If you really don't have any clue what you want to do, including whether or not you want to use ships in combat, don't remap at all. If you can eliminate some areas of skill training early on, then it's worth a flexible remap.

For instance, let's say you want to have a ship that blows things up. So you need ships, weapons, support skills, navigation, etc. Almost all of those are either Perception primary, or Intelligence primary. So remapping into 7 int/7 perc would improve your training time on all those skills relevant to ship combat, and begin the yearlong cooldown for the next free remap. You would not be able to train Trade or Industry skills so well, but hopefully you got whatever basic skills in those categories knocked off before you remapped.

Also, if you know pretty well what you want to do, the first year is the best time to use up a bonus remap. Say you want to fly logistics ships. Before you remap, get 3-4 points in a cruiser skill, along with basic weapons, just to cover your bases. Because of the way Eve skills work, you can get 3 points in a lot of combat skills in just a couple weeks. Then remap to 10 int/4 mem, and start training support stuff. Flying a good T2 logi requires a lot of skills in engineering and electronics. Run all that up, along with tank and cap skills, for six months. At this point you're probably flying a badass cruiser, but are kind of bored with it... so remap into 10 perc/4 will with one bonus remap, hit battlecruisers and logistics, train some more weapons if you want, etc. By the end of your first year you'll be flying a few ships very well, and have the ability to fly some other ones decently. Thing is, if you try to go a year without using a bonus remap, you will either end up gimping yourself, or have to stick with an int/perc remap for a year. Saving the bonus remap, but getting less SP.

Ultimately it depends on how far out you're willing to make plans and stick with them, and how much tolerance you have for dealing with your remap's limitations.
