Yet another killboard thread

Wow, Zero likes almost never post on EVE-O and look at this, I have come out the cupboard. P

A Brief

I started this project (linked below) as a personal project for "FUN" and to learn a web framework and programming language. It has not been a full time project and so it is not complete and with many bugs and/or missing info but would like to address this in future.

It is a killboard that is inspired by the original eve-arena using much of a similar layout but with some features not present that were in eve-arena (different use case). It is designed (or being) to be a central hosted global killboard and not an alternative to EDK. The board has no registration requirements for any features (except comments to prevent spam and private info such as EVE API Keys) and it will always be free in terms of data usage like API's when implemented.

Posted here to get some thoughts on the idea of such a board and see if anyone is interested in helping develop it. It is based on Rails 3.2.x.

Of course it may be a little slow if people start hammering it since it is running on a small VPS

NOTE: Some of the database data is out of date so certain mails will error (entirely) or show missing modules on posting.

I cannot resist to ask but any chance you hand out a hosting package for iskies? ATM I'm looking for a new killboard for my corp. And seeing edk is outdated and its code doesn't receive updates anymore I'm hoping you can help me out.

If you mean hosting for other types of sites then this is not the intention of what I am doing. The killboard itself though is planned to be hosted already so you do not have to host it. The principal behind this project is to have a free killboard for anyone to use and if you would like to support it then any help developing it would be welcomed.

Donations may be a future plan to assist with costs if they become to high but there will be NO adverts on this killboard.

Source code will be made available once I have thought of which open source license I need to put onto it. The board design is to be centrally hosted (think battle clinic without the ads, awful UI and drama) and it is not designed to be a direct replacement EDK since EDK was designed to be self hosted. I would imagine you can self host it but this would detract from global board experience.

The basic principle when starting this was to be a killboard that is central hosted and use but with community assistance. End of the day I will be pushing ahead anyway but it would be nice for help on the board since things may go faster.
