Tell me how to prepare for a food challenge

Hi there. You may remember me from such threads as 'Help me overcome my fat gut' or 'Is the penalty for suicide ganking too high?'. Today I will be gathering advice from you all as to how to prepare for a food challenge. The challenge is to consume 1 kilo of schnitzel with chips & a litre of beer in 1 hour. For you Americans & your inferior imperial system, this equates to roughly 5 pounds of food & drink that needs to be consumed. The challenge is happening on the 4th of January, so I have a little over a week to prepare myself.

Drink a lot of water each day to stretch your stomach, lose as much belly fat as possible as fat cells are NOT as elastic as abdominal muscles. Be very careful with how much water you drink though, while you need to consume a lot, keep your sodium levels up too. Too much water can rob your body of sodium and can lead to death. The idea though, is to stretch your stomach to the point it can hold all of that food and beverage. Make sure that each bite is moistened too to minimize air intake (a.k.a gas in your stomach) as any air will rob your stomach of storage potential until that gas is burped out.

by all means, consult a doctor before taking on such a feat

Eat increasingly more leading up to the challenge to prepare your stomach for the food intake. Make sure you go for a really big poo before hand!!

Why would you require special preparation for that?

It doesn't even equate to a six-pack of beer, volume-wise, which is easy for many to put away in an hour without even taking a leak.

5 kilos of food plus the beer, now that would be a challenge.

Normally I do not propagate the use of drugs, but I would strongly recommend that you use some laxatives on the day before the challenge- Bisacodyl, a.k.a. Dulcolax would be a solid choice.
The idea is to get your intestines empty before the challenge to have more room for the food.
Not sure if this would count as "doping", though...

Liquids move on from the stomach rather fast. Food needs to be broken down in the stomach before it can move on & the amount of food you can eat in one sitting is directly related to your stomach size.

keep the bites and the sips small. certain types of food can actually expand quite alot if they find themselves immersed in any kind of fluids.

I have done plenty of these sorts of challenges in the past succeeding at most of them. 5 pounds of combined food and fluid is actually not very much. Most of the advice is good, the biggest thing I would do is just keep eating as much as humanly possible for each meal. I find going to McD's and ordering up some dollar menu items is a good way to do it on a budget. Rice is also a good cheap way but can be pretty bland. You will find in very short order that you can eat more and more each meal. My hint would be to save the liquid for last or use as needed to get food down. I find personally I can always find room for liquid but find it much harder for my brain to tell my throat to swallow when I am REALLY full. I would also do it as fast as possible. The longer you sit there the longer your brain and body has to process what you have done and it only becomes more difficult. If you don't aspire to be a fat ass I would say go the whole next 3-4 days with controlling your portion sizes no matter how much your body complains it is hungry. After a few days you will return to normal.

Thanks, but unfortunately I have to bow out due to a hernia I've apparently had for awhile. I'll let you know how the other Goons go though.

Other Goons?

Wait..what?
Didn't know that it had anything to do with EVE..
Is this a Goon inside thing, or are Goons competing against other Alliances on the ..er...table of honor?

It has nothing to do with EVE. We aren't an EVE community, a bunch of us just happen to play a bunch of games. There's regular forum Goon meetings all over the world & I'm a part of the Sydney group, which gets together multiple times a week for trivia & other random stuff.

Interesting, and I mean that in a non--ironic way.

Since I originally come from 4chan (the dumb, malformed and discarded child of SA), I have difficulties imagining such a meeting...I mean a room full of anons would be terrifying to behold...

By all means, tell us about the contest and the meeting, pictures would also be greatly appreciated (if possible and not too much effort).
