Ok, so I'm a fairly new pilot that's gallente spec'd.

And I like the idea of faction cruisers. Pay a little more, get a slightly better ship. I really like the Vexor Navy Issue because as a newer character, you can quickly get a decent fitting that does good damage out of it.

So I've tried to do the same thing with a Navy Exequror... and failed miserably. Not only can I not find a useful niche for a newer character, I can't find any niche at all for this ship.

I've tried several fits, trying to figure out what that boat's niche is. I've tried blasters, I've tried rails and kiting. I spent a lot of time yesterday working out a kiting fit for it that would take advantage of its speed* and ability to fit 250mm railguns. For about a day, I honestly thought I had found a winner...

I then posted this fit to my alliance forum and... long story short, turns out there's a Thorax fit that does that better for 40 million less.

Frankly, I can't find anything that it does substantially better than a Thorax.

So my challenge to you all is to find a fit for the Exequror that fills a useful combat role substantially better than the Thorax.

"Substantially better" is subjective I know, but I promise that if I'm convinced that you've found a useful role for this ship, I'll pay you a 20 million isk prize, and you'll get to be the Failboat Fit Challenge: Navy Exequror Edition champion.

I'm going to say up front that I don't think a very long distance sniping cruiser is a useful combat role, so don't bother posting fits that make use of the 250mm guns claiming its a better sniping platform. I'm also not accepting anything that has to do with it being targeted more because people know it sucks or some other such nonsense. I'm also going to say that I very much doubt that I'm going to be paying out 20 million, not because I'm unwilling (small price to pay for an interesting and rare ship fitting) but because frankly I think the Exequror Navy Issue is a completely worthless ship that CCP should be ashamed of putting in the game.

Anyway, good luck!

* Yesterday I learned that its not really any faster than anything else, it just never gets fit with a heavy plate, so it seems faster... =\

Doesn't look like that fit is even possible. I'm not seeing how you can fit those repairers with the 250 prototype gauss guns.

Thanks for trying though...

EDIT: looks like the rigs make it possible.

Okay,, problem with this is that

1. I don't think this is useful, heavy active tank with rails doesn't make sense to me.

2. Thorax does the same thing with slightly less range by swapping out the 250s for 200s and keeping the rest of the fit the same. DPS is compareable, much better tracking for the Thorax, and the extra mid slot can be used for a tracking computer with an optimal range script to mitigate the range difference down to just 4k anyway.

And of course the thorax fit is significantly cheaper.

So are the Navy Osprey, Fleet Scythe and Navy Augoror that were introduced at the same time.

In fact, with the recent T1 cruiser buff they're probably less useful than the standard versions of their shared hulls.

Salvage fit is probably the most practical one here... and why use that when a noctis costs as much and is more effective

This is what i could come up with at a pinch. It was a pretty decent nano fit, just over 2k a second, 19k ehp, 454 dps with null, 553 (without heat). Prior to the cruiser buff, it was actually a good fit, but after crusier buff, it just doesn't have the EHP of the other cruisers. It also has disadvantages solo, in that it doesn't have the anti-tackle capability of other nano cruisers like the rupture, stabber, and even thorax.

Final advice, this one isn't worth the money. If you want a good nano cruiser, look at the rax, rupture, or stabber.

You might be like me a get your Navy Exeq at "half cost" by grinding Loyalty Points ...

But I'm not a good example, I'm a ship collector, I neeeeeed to get them all ... and then find something to do with them Roll

Interesting fit, and thank you for attempting something, but without actually porting this fit to pyfa I'm pretty sure the Thorax can do that better too. It has a bigger cargohold for one thing, and more turret points for salvagers, and more drone bandwidth for salvage drones.

And of course its cheaper...

1: gallente boats are active tank because they're armor-centric. if you want to fly shieldfit avoid gallente/minmatar wherever possible. you can't passive an armor fit. the Oneiros and T1 version of the exhackweaksauce Naval Issue are both remote repair ships, but that's not a solo option.

2: Thorax is the attack boat. Big bang, crap defenses. If you get webbed and scrammed it'll pop like a zit. But for fast attack it's not bad. there's better, but it's not bad.

Whuups, missed that word didn't I ?

Yeah, the poor Exequror really has nothing going for it, and the Navy version didn't get the "tiericide" buff ...

Glorified paperweight ?

Looking pretty in the hangar ?

It's now a training boat for logistics pilots. the naval should have been altered accordingly.

I would drop the Twinkie and fit a second PBR, for two-fisting action! WHHHHOOOOODAH!

I would also drop the Washing Machine for a Crecent Wrench. Why would you fit a WM on a redneck anything? Such a noob mistake, lololololol!

Finally, you would need 4 or 5 rig slots on a redneck ship, because Duck Tape and WD-40, 'nuff said. :P

It really doesn't help that the ship looks like it was inspired by trailer park architecture and bus design.

Before retribution, this ship was amazing to use. The thing people don't see in this ship is that it has speed and agility out the ass, look at it as a cruiser sized taranis. Speed out the ass, damage out the ass, but really thin. In the current patch, the thorax will do all of these things but with a slightly better tank and alot cheaper. so fly the thorax. But before the patch, ENI was awesome if you had the balls to fly it.

Crecent Wrench is not a hislot, thats a lowslot. (I was trying to keep the hislots to big things rednecks keep out on their porch for all to see. Since hislots are visible.) Dual PBRs in the lows are certainly viable though. I just prefer the versatility of a PBR & Twinkie I 'spose.

This on a serious point of view.

They will need to be revamped like their civ variants. When? Dunno, whip out that crystal ball we got. Ask it.

I'm not sure why you are comparing this ship (before it's scheduled buff) to other cruisers that have already received their buff.

Wouldn't it simply be wiser to hang onto it until the Navy ships are done and then make your judgement?

Just sayin'.
