Remote Invention/Reverse Engineering using a POS - possible?

Can someone just confirm I'm not a derp making an obvious mistake?

As someone who lives in lowsec with a highsec research POS - I find it quite annoying that my remote research skill (Scientific networking?) that should allow me to start jobs from upto 5 jumps away, doesn't seem to apply to my POS.

For further info the jobs are invention and reverse engineering jobs, which I believe (the problem is) you need to right click the actual item or BPC to start such jobs, but remotely accessing my POS labs division hangars at my POS appears to be impossible.

I know for ME research etc is possible using a corp division hangar in a station in the same system but does that work for the jobs I want to run? I remember it not working last time I tried some years ago but maybe I was derping.

Cheers for any help.

The problem might be your Scientific N skill is not high enough or that the POS is located in a different region from where you are trying to do remote research.

has nothing to with that

the description might be a bit missleading here, but just see it as the skill can only increase the distance between your BPO and lab...since u have to have your BPC`s and materials inside the lab it only works manually on the POS.

Remote inventing is totally doable if:

- your POS is in same system as your corp office hangar
- datacores and data interface are at the pos labs
- BPCs are at corp office hangar
- you are in same region and within your networking range to the POS system

Now you can easily rclick the bpcs from the corp bpc listing on the S&I window

I keep 1 bpc at the pos since i read somewhere that it avoided some errormessage,
which i havent seen when making different item in that lab so i dont know if its actually needed

I guess RE works with same way but i havent done that

No derp - you just can't do it, for the reasons you stated.

Without testing (and I can't get on the test server) can you remotely see items in a 'Corp Hangar Array' at a pos? it may be that could be a solution, but someone would have to try it.

This.

With the BPCs in the corp hanger in station (not the POS), it's possible to invent as far away as the scientific networking skill allows you to do.

I do remote invention all the time. You need to have the datacores + item + interface + decryptors in the lab, while the BPC can be in a station / corp hangar.

So keep the BPC in station and you're fine.

Cheers folks.

Glad to see a few mixed replies here as makes me feel less derp as it obviously isn't thta straight forward. Oops

It appears Remote Invention looks to work fine as stated above - I just remembered why I dont do that though and that is because office cost is ridiculously high in my high sec station system at 34 mil (it has been much higher too Sad).

Regarding remote Reverse Engineering, which is what is really annoying me because the jobs are like only 1 hour each meaning I have to run to and fro from low to high sec continually.
Unlike for inventing where having the BPC in a corp division, for remote reverse engineering the wrecked power cores or whatever you click to start the job need to be in the POS lab itself - and since you can't remotely view the lab contents it can't be done.

TL;DR -
Remote Invention - Yes if you pay for an office
Remote Reverse Engineering - No

So I'm just going to have to lump it back and forth until CCP change it or until my *cries* thousands of RE jobs are all done. Cry

Thanks again for the help. Cheers, Vyk.
