New Pulse Laser sounds are underwhelming

CCP I just got a tachyon Nightmare.


PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give the old sounds back if you aren't willing to do a new set. This is TERRIBLE. They sound like the thwip sound you see in the comics of Spiderman's web coming out of his wrist. I am not shooting white goo at my enemies I am shooting ETERNAL DAMNATION AND HELLFIRE GGHHHHZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT

I miss the old laser sounds(Can't speak for proj/blasters or anything beyond large) I used to feel a real punch in my beams when I fired them, but right now it feels like I am firing small lasers when using mega pulse/techyons. Not to mention that pulses have a breaking glass sound effect after firing which is really stupid :|

Yeah noticed that earlier after trying to force myself to enjoy the Legions medium pulses. Breaking glass in there for sure. DO NOT WANT.

Hey, personally I am very grateful for any work done on sound. I love music, I love SFX in all types of media and games.

My my bit of advice would be, the sounds just need to be more powerful. The weapons we are dealing with are meant to be gargantuan in size. I would love to hear things like lasers rumbling on the charge up (as it cycles round) then as you fire I want to hear that im dishing out god knows how much power into space.

For instance I would say that Gallentes blasters and rails, along with Amarrs lasers should sound incredibly powerful, very mechanical and very booming. These are huge machines with incredible amounts of power surging through them, keeping beams focused and blaster cores stable.

I think the missile sounds for Caldari are very good for the most part :)

Where as auto-cannons and artillery could still do with tweaking. The artillery, again, needs to sound more powerful. Autos on the other hand just need to sound like they are firing for a bit longer. As it stands it sounds like they are constantly on burst fire. It would be nice if it changed up a little and some shots were more like long bursts or even full auto fire if that makes sense.

The good old days of Unreal Tournament, fragging and sniping on Facing Worlds, listening to Foregone Destruction.......

I got to hear the sound of blasters (I think) raining down on me from way outside of their optimal (silly serpentis). I'm not going to say I didn't like it, but I'm not going to say I did, either. I will say it reminded me of the dual photon cannons of the Scout Protoss aircraft from the original Starcraft.

The new sounds summarized:

Blasters: slight improvement (since they're shotguns in space why do they still sound like 'chup chup').
Railguns: Good, I like em.

AC: suppose to sound like machine guns, atm it sounds like a broken blender
Artillery: suppose to sound like well, Artillery... but currently reminds of a whack-a-mole sound

Pulse: Cycled lasers, quick burst but right now it goes 'piup piup' rather than pew pew
Beams/tach: Long range powerful oversized lasers that go like a someone needs viagra

Missiles: Fine

The conclusion: the gun sounds are ALL a bit meh. It needs moar power.

I miss the mega pulse laser sound that was in place when I started playing in Apocrypha. The charge-up into a big PEW PEW PEW sound worthy of a golden spacedil...yea you know the geddon.

If you think Autocannons should sound ANYTHING like a machine gun... you're doing it wrong

(by the way i know what you meant. machine guns aka rapid fire but even then they need to be fired in bursts. The issue is you cannot compare a machine gun to a autocannon/rotary autocannon or even a chain gun even in current standards in real life tech)

By real life comparison the sounds of autocannons/artillery in game are dull and nowhere near correct (you really wanna hear 800mm artillery cannons firing 10 rounds or so a second?). But for a game they arent bad.

The old Mega Pulse Lasers had a much better OOOMPH to them. Now they just sound like wet fart noises. This goes for medium and small pulse lasers as well.

YES. The heavy turrets on the Quarian fleet in ME3 sound just right for something like arty or rails.
Oh, and the M-99 Sabre BR sounds like an artillery cannon as well.


...Maybe CCP should hire BioWare to redo all the sounds.

We need moar bass !

And not only from lasers ! For example, firing with a neutron blaster II should reflect, somehow, to an external viewer, that you're firing with the most powerful weapon (I hear by that higher DPS) of every sub-cap ship in EVE. Feel the Void L ammos, feel the two full months training time.
