I wouldn't worry about it, i doubt there's many EVE players that are friendly with real life hit men, hell most of us hardly have time to put some trousers on

Here's an idea... petition CCP? Contact them or something?

A player just made a real-life death threat against you. If death threats are admissible in court if they come from YouTube... why not if they come from Eve?

But the other posters are right... nothing will probably ever come out of it. And nobody short of a Crack addict would pop a cap in yo a$$ for only $5000... Cool

A  blonde with P.M.S. and a Vindicator is the most powerful force in Eve. Screw the DoomsDay Device. She just figured out how to make blaster rounds out of Estrogen...

Your not the only person that gets real-life threats. Take it for what it is... a angry retort from a desperate person.

On the other hand I always petition mine just incase... Can never be sure how many nut cases there are that play EVE. I am actually pretty certain the assholes of the game are alot more stable in real life than the indy/pve folk.

First, someone just got themselves permabanned.

Second, when the cops show up permaban will be the least of their problems.

Third, good grief, five grand? Yeah anyone who offers to work for that cheap is either a crackhead or an undercover cop. Good luck with either. See #2.

Not sure where this is coming from, but RL threatening a dude doesnt result in a permaban; or any kind of ban, for that matter.

You can check my bio for examples of guys who played merrily along the very next day after I petitioned them.

Now if you repeatedly issue RL death threats it becomes a different matter. Then you'll eventually find yourself in PotC - only to be permabanned yet again for the same thing.

That said, I always petition RL threats as a matter of course.

Actually, depending on the country you are in, Death threats, typed, talked, or otherwise, are taken rather seriously, and can easily result in legal action.

To the OP, anytime something like this comes up, save the chat log, and report it. Immediately. It could (and usually is) ignorant smack talk, but you don't know, and it is always better playing it safe in a case like this. The guy running his mouth crossed a potentially dangerous line, weather through ignorance or intent is irrelevant. While it is the rarity, we do live in a world where people snap and go around killing for no particular good reason.

I too cry to ccp when i am "real life threatened". Doin that sounds worse than whatever you did to insight that rage. People tend to say some pretty crazy stuff when there pixels get exploded. This is one of them times. Petition or not. Whatever you did, Made him very angry.

In the case of EVE im sure your fine however I have been online gaming since the 1st expansion of Eq1 and in all my years in MMO games I know of 3 different occasions where smeone went after someone IRL because of something that happend in game. These people did have links to each other via guilds ect. but It can and does happen. Just report him and let CCP deal with him.

So this squeaky-voiced kid calls me up and says "I heard you're the guy to call to have people rubbed out."

"Listen kid, I don't know what you heard, but I don't swing that way," I answered.

"No!" he replied in disgust, "I mean bumped off!"

"I don't follow. You want me to...body check them?"

"I WANT YOU TO KILL THE SCUMBAGS!" he shouted.

"Oh, that. You should really say what you mean instead of trying to make it sound all seductive with the rubbing and bumping stuff. I thought you were trying to come on to me like that guy Carlos last week. He wanted me to--"

"SHUT UP! What the hell is wrong with you? Can you kill them or not?" He seemed annoyed. And loud.

I sighed. Obviously this one had never heard of manners. Or sting operations. "Yeah sure, who are they? Mafia types? Extortionists? Drug dealers? Democrats?"

"They made me mad on the internet and I want them gone. I'll give you five thousand dollars for both."

"Okay. Mmph. Which room are they in?"

"Room? What the hell do you mean?"

"I need to know which room they're in so I can kill them. I'm not playing hide and seek for five grand. Make it quick...living room? Kitchen? Front closet?"

"Are you high or something? I don't know where they are or their real names! Just who they are in Eve Online."

"Oh. I thought you knew."

"Knew what?"

"About the pants fee. If I have to put on pants to kill someone, there's a $45,000 fee per target. I'll waive the $5,000 base cost for multiples, so it'll only cost you $90,000....Hello? Hello? Are you there? Hmm....guess I won't need those pants after all."

I wouldn't worry about it, 5k is nothing. No real professional hitman would do it for only 5k. You're fine. Petition CCP, get this extremely unsubtle man removed from the game permanently.

Interesting.

I haven't had anyone that mad at me for a long time. Not since the days of Jedi perma-death in SWG (I was a Bounty Hunter). Had one guy troll me for several days...threatened to kill me, my mother, even the dog. One email even detailed how he was going to skin me alive with a butter knife.

Funny. I can't remember what I ate for breakfast this morning, but I remember that from 8 years ago.
