Making Courier Contracts worthwhile

Well, i hope to get some feedback on this since i personally dont use them. Reason for the suggestion: Friend has crap computer that hes replacing in a few months, but right now he can pretty much only warp around in non-hostile areas because for whatever reason combat kills his GPU, so he took up courier contracts after he got bored of missions. Only to realize that the only way to afford player contracts is to be rich enough to never do them for their reward.

basically he came complaining to me about this horrible game i got him to sub for, so i looked into it. And pretty much just about any contract out their from players is going to want you to pay 50+mil with only MAYBE 500k reward, for 35 jumps.

Proposal: Set a minimum reward for courier contracts based on the collateral, say 10% collateral with a skill that reduces it by 1 percent per level.

This way, if someone wants you to pay 1billion to haul an item that precious to them 30 jumps, they will eb required to pay you 100mil with a level 0 skill, or 50mil in reward at level 5. I figure this is fair since right now public courier contracts are rarely worth doing for the reward, and nigh impossible to get into without vast amounts of capital.

i suppose any Constructive Feedback, is good feedback. so, opinions?

There's a very easy way to avoid doing contracts for low pay per jump. Don't accept the contract.

That's the beauty of contracts, you don't have to accept them if you don't like the terms.

I have used couriers to move good around and will continue to do so until I get my own freighter.

There are "good" courier contracts that pay up to 200-300k per jump, and they also get accepted on a regular basis. So there is a supply of haulers doing the contracts at the currents rates.

For the ones with very low rewards, pilots often accept them when they're about to make the trip anyway and there's room in their cargo hold. They usually work well on popular trade routes between the big hubs.

As to your proposal, do you think any self-respecting pilot (who knows the basics of trading) would pay, say, 50 mil (or 25) reward for a 500 mil cargo? That's already a good profit margin for 500 mil of goods in the first place. And if that's gone to hauling, then there would be no point in transporting the stuff in the first place...

He could join MicroPush which gets a few contracts each day at a set price per jump. 7 outstanding as I write this. We're always recruiting. When all contracts are done he'd have to fall back on public contracts though.

GUess ill just tell him about yall then. still kinda bugs em though that 90% of the contracts are outrageous, buy/sell orders in jita arent even as bad as alot of those contracts.
