As long as there are drivers for everything you have, it'll work fine.

I'm running windows 8 on my laptop and my desktop. 3 Eve clients running at the same time just fine.

I did have some problems with graphics card drivers on the laptop, but that's not eve specific. The official drivers worked fine. The ones from microsoft update didn't.

Hmm interesting point so I looked up the drivers on my graphics card.
One set of Drivers for Vista / Windows 7 / Windows 8

Which basically answered my question.
WIndows 8 is basically the same engine as Vista and 7 with a different GUI.

We all know that was the major change from VISTA to windows 7, they removed a lot of the overhead.
It looks like windows pulled the same game again in reverse
Took the baseline engine and put a new GUI on top of it.

So in the end pick your poison on which GUI and features you like.

Actually, there's a whole bunch of backend changes. Stuff which you'll generally not notice and a few that you would.

And a few that aren't mentioned there, like ASLR.

The faster boot is nice too. (It'd done by partial hibernation. My desktop box takes longer to POST than the finish the rest of the boot)
