It was a game on the BBC micro during my childhood. Then came Elite frontiers which I played on the Amiga. Well David Braben is making a new Elite and is asking for people to pledge money on kickstarter.

Take a look at what his visions is and if you like what you see and wish to take part get your wallet out and pledge.

What is this Elite you speak of? Roll

Surrender is still your slightly less painful option.

One of my favorite games of all times.

Played the hell out of the original, and all the sequels.

I find it a bit interesting that the founders of CCP made EVE because of Elite, and the guys I served with in the Navy back in the 90's had a similar idea for an Elite based MMO. Probably a few of them playing EVE now.

Surrender is still your slightly less painful option.

Never actually played Elite, but I've spent countless hours playing Frontier (Elite II). Hell, I still fire it up every now and then, mostly to fool around with the physics engine (gravitational slingshots etc) and just generally be amazed by how much you could fit on a standard 880kB Amiga diskette... (I don't like the term floppy for 3.5" media - they were rigid! 5.25" on the other hand...)

Asp Explorer and the slightly bugged Imperial Courier (no crew on Amiga)... I want them in EVE.

Truly, you have a dizzying intellect.

I keep looking now and again for a PC version of Frontier Elite as I got rid of my Amiga one when I sold the computer.

I wish all best to all other SF games Developers, its good for CCP, games industry and for players because they can chose betewen few options, with respect to EvE as game product and CCP as awesome company who create most cool SF game in history, CCP need a big competition, just to make EvE better and evolving product.

EvE isn't game, its style of living.

Just an update they hit their Kickstarter target on David Brabens' birthday which was a nice touch.

The SF scene in games has been left behind as consoles are not capable to run a real space sim like Eve Online or Elite. With Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen coming out in 2014, I hope this will make publishers take note that there is a market out there for the dedicated PC game and not just ****** ports from consoles.
