So I've noticed that I've been getting likes on posts that have been deleted or in threads that have been locked.
I have absolutely no clue how this is even possible, but I will say the constant likes are getting irritating.
What's the deal, yo?

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

I think you can still get likes on posts in locked threads, but deleted ones? How is that possible... I guess the server still has a record of the post somewhere in the database and apparently whatever script is used is able to get the forums to assign the post a like even though no one can see the post.

Yeah presumably the post exists somewhere, you just can't see it. But the script can tell the server "give this post a like" and it goes "welp, ok".

I've wondered about that.

In the beginning you could even like your own posts using js, now it's just a matter of using said js code to like post number XXXXXX

Which is what they're doing pretty much. Destination Skillqueue started with this pretty quickly after the forums were released, sorta showing how broken the like system is, not totally different from the bounty system in-game right now where everyone runs around with 100k bounties for the sake of it being possible.

Same goes with many of the likes when they script it like that.

I heard that theres a google app out there somewhere that will let you plus rep or neg rep a whole thread. I do not know if such software if being used in this instance but it wouldnt surprise me.

I've wondered about that.

Yesterdays script seemed to work backwards through my posting history. During the process I also found threads, where not all posts before or after mine had a like. So it looked very specific in the beginning.

When you get them constantly, it's hard to separate out frivolous likes from those from people who actually agree with your posts.

I agree it's getting a bit much. At first I found it cute but I do like to know which of my posts aren't absolutely terrible and these 'likes' are taking up all the notification history

In a way, though, I'm glad it's a script making 'likes', not a human. I'd be scared for their health if someone was actually reading the crap I post, that's stuff's caustic

Nah. You just have to think of 1 as being the base number instead of 0. Blink

…also, I suppose you still have notifications turned on? I gave up on that ages ago for obvious reasons.

Why is this emergent forum play, being griefed by Likes LolLolLolLolLolLol

The Like button became obsolete within hours of it coming out.

Griefing?
I've never been griefed.
What's it like?

I had someone burn down a large wool sign I had in Minecraft before I started playing EVE. Is that griefing? I just rebuilt it, it wasn't hard.
