Hi.

I searched the forums repeatedly and didn't find anythiing on this so forgive me if I missed it somehow. Yesterday while ratting in belts in 0.0 (Fade region) and killing normal rats, NOT faction rats, I got several BPC's somehow. I didn't check carefully to see if they were in the hold of the rats before clicking "loot all" because, honestly, in 7 years playing I've never gotten a bpc from a plain old belt rat (in 0.0 or anywhere else). The BPC's included a 50 run Large Micro Jump Drive, and a 50 run Medium Ancillary Shield Booster. The rats included Serpentis Admirals and other Serpentis ships including cruisers, battlecruisers and other battleships (but again no faction spawns).

So I was wondering if this was announced as a part of any of the recent changes and I just missed it.....

Thanks.

i think any modules added recently. so those reactive armour things, ASBs, MJDs, etc have bpcs that can be looted from rats. i got a reactive hardener thing a while ago in fountain.

Nope answer cannot be found in that blog.

The blog states following. However it doesnt mention anything about normal belt rats dropping bpc's.

"For those new modules that won't be seeded, they will not have any BPOs. Instead, BPCs of them drop as loot in profession sites in normal space and as commander & officer loot. These BPCs have between 3 and 50 runs, depending on difficulty of site/enemy. The sites in question are the pirate faction archaeology and hacking sites."

are you sure?

For those new modules that won't be seeded, they will not have any BPOs. Instead, BPCs of them drop as loot in profession sites in normal space and as commander & officer loot. These BPCs have between 3 and 50 runs, depending on difficulty of site/enemy. The sites in question are the pirate faction archaeology and hacking sites.

The reasons for not just seeding the new modules directly to the market are several. Seeding on market has always been sort of a quick-and-dirty way of getting things out there that we've basically used too much in the past - it's much more fun to put the whole process in the hand of the players, so that there is gameplay involved every step of the way (finding BPCs, trading them, manufacturing items, sell items, use items).

as i said the information is in fact in that Devblog.

Well, there were no commanders or officers that I know of at the belts unless a plain Serpentis Admiral is a "commander". I was not at any sites at all, just at regular asteroid belts....

It would be great if there was a process for people to aquire the same BPC's without having to do PvE stuff.

This is my only problem with the way that CCP is doing this now.
As a dedicated industrialist it would be nice if I had something like the invention process to create those BPC. The success rates should be slightly lower then the drop rates, and there should be an equivilent associated cost as the mission runner is likely to acrue through ammo use.

The first drops i had were all from faction spawns. However, when BS ratting in 0.0 i recognized they drop there, too.
I don't know if it's BS only that drop em, or every rat.

Attention Normal rats never drop faction ships or faction modules bpc.
Attention Faction npc got small or random chance to drop faction ship-module bpc( even frigate got small chance for drop faction frigate bpc) (form my expirence faction battleships got chance for drop cruiser-battleship size faction ships bpc or faction POS bpc- very low chance)
Attention New modules bpc like ancilary shield booster etc somtime are inside sites ( inside cans that you need hack)
Attention I have no idea about 0.0 normal rats npc in belts that may drop bcp like ancilary shield booster, ecm breaker etc, maybe some drop them, in anomalys, scan sites, ded etc.

Ps. That fact you play 7 years long and you never got faction bpc is normal, its about luck, i know guy who got two officer spawn in two day period, while other people living and ratiing in null space for years and they never see a officer spawn.

Personaly i never got any spetial implant like slave-snake etc, and i play from 2006, its all about luck...

that's hard actually. I got a whole Low-Grade Snake set dropped over maybe 10 days.

Thanks for the responses.

The last couple of responses have taken the thread a little off track, though. At no point did I mention faction BPC's in my OP, and I certainly never complained about not finding faction BPC's (nor would that have been true). The thread was to discuss the fact that I found 3 NON-FACTION BPC's, for standard (although newish) modules, in regular 0.0 belts with regular 0.0 rats. This had never happened to me before, and then it occurred three times in one day, so I was surprised.

Based on the responses so far, I'm hearing that the same thing has occurred to a few other people, so it doesn't sound like a bug. The dev post that was pointed out in another response does not seem to address the issue directly, since it talked about finding bpc's in profession sites, and with special rats, but not about finding bpc's in standard belts with normal rats.
