I seem to have a fan...and it is scaring me a little

I realize that I am the great truth of the game, and someday there will be monuments of me in every system in Eve, but someone just went through and liked a LOT of my posts, all it seems in one shot. Further, this person and I have not always seen eye to eye on these forums. I am more than a little curious why, and I am waiting for a reply to a couple emails I sent the person asking why.

Outside of the obvious reason that what I said struck a nerve, is there any kind of meta-game associated with "liking" someone's posts?

Happened to me to about 2 years ago from a notorious poster "Bumblefck".

Not much you can really do about it.

Enjoy your higher like count and move on, really.

In fact posting about it is only going to encourage more, so I suggest not mentioning it again and pray this thread dies.

Honestly.

Rest assured it has nothing to do with the content of your posts.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

If you're referring to Destination: SkillQueue they liked everyones posts, on every page, of every thread they 'greased'.

Have absolutely no clue what you are blathering on about, honestly. Really I don't.

Have a very Merry Christmas though.

I don't understand the mechanic that allows that, and what do you mean "greased". I don't understand the meaning in this context.

It is indeed hard to understand the nonsense posted by any member of goonswarm, that's for sure.

I hope this helps, some of you people really do live under rocks, eh?

It's easy to do through either URL Web Link, or external scripting to spam 'like' on every post on a page, with a stroke of a button.

I know which person you're talking about, I logged into the forums this morning to see that I'd somehow gained 400 or so likes because someone had systematically gone through the forums and liked every one of my posts.

Several other people have reported this to us, and as far as we can see there's no abuse of any of our systems and no ill intent behind it.

Just thought I'd clear your mind in case you thought you were being stalked LolSmile

This sort of thing is trivial to automate. I wonder if it violates the EULA to automatically like everything...

Nice person mass-likes posts on EVE-Online forums by way of a Christmas present. EVE community shocked and appalled, suspects scam and/or EULA violation. More news at ten!

I really wish there was a way I could slide over a few of the over 1,000 I got your way.

This is seriously a 'thanks but no thanks' situation.

The system is utterly meaningless anyway. Like button without dislike button? And even if there was a dislike button, and someone had a negative likes count, all it would mean is that the person dared to question the status quo or effect any change. So, in the end, 1 like or 10,000 likes, it's just a meaningless number.

Though I agree, it's a little weird when someone goes through all your old posts like that.
