The "In Town" Freighter - Just an idea

Just throwing this idea out to see if there is any agreement with the idea.

Who many times have you had 160,000 M3 of cargo that you wanted to move and of course your only alternatives are a standard Indy (Max configuration < 100,000) and multiple trips or get out the freighter? Of course you get out the freighter and look at that almost empty cargo hold while you are waiting to align to the next gate. Seems a bit frustrating just sitting there with an almost empty cargo, yet it is the only way to do it in one trip.

Now, my proposal would be a new class of Freighter, let's call in the "In Town" freighter similar to those smaller trucks you see delivering to your local stores.

Simply take each of the current freighters and reduce them to say 1/3 of their current size. Actually reduce/increase everything to a scale of 1/3. Giving you say 350,000 cargo with a smaller, more agile ship.

Just an idea. Please comment or suggest other figures. Maybe we could get CCP - DEVs attention if there are enough players who would like to see such a ship.

Thanks,

This has been suggested many times already. So there really is a need for an intermediate sized cargo vehicle, a mini-freighter if you will.

circa 300K m3 cargo space,
50-100K EHP
base speed about 100m/s
1 or 2 util highslots,
mid slots?? I don't know
2 low slots for a DC and that hull increasing mod that i forgot the name of. Or if you want less tank and more maneuverability i-stab / nanofiber / overdrive. Some way to prevent the fitting of cargo expanders.

How does that sound?

I would call them Jump Freighters. They should allign faster than normal freighters and have about 300.000 m3 cargo space.

OK,

So I went out into the market and checked out the Jump Freighters. They are a tech II invention from a Freighter BPO. They are also Jump Drive capable. Does this mean that they are Low or Null space ONLY ships, or like the Black Ops can be used in empire with standard jump gates?

This is unclear in the description. Can anyone definitively clear this up?

Thank You in advance, for your reply

Thank You, for that answer to my question. This opens a new invention/production plan for us. .
Guess I have been here too long to be considered a normal player, looking for something I can do to help others, and make a reaonable profit.
