Is the ship much good for combat?

I'm doing the Cash flow for Capsuleers mission, and am up the No 7.

I last about 20 seconds before I have to warp back to the station, but the last time I caught a barrage of missiles before I could get to warp, and have lost my Ibis. Cry

It's obvious I need a more capable ship to deal and get even with those pirates. I was given a Condor for completing an earlier cash flow mission, but still have to train up in missiles ect to fit it out.

So, is the Condor any good, or will I have to do some none combat missions to build up my isk wallet to buy a Moa or some other more combat capable ship before I go back to finish the 10 missions?

The Condor should be more than adequate for most missions in the tutorial arc. Make sure you have rocket/missile skills trained and an Afterburner would be a good idea.

P.S. You can never run out of rookie ships like the Ibis. Just fly your capsule to a station where you don't have any unpacked ships and you will be given a free one.

Edit: Also, on the next mission, make sure to read the text and keep local chat open.

Condor is very viable. But it really depends which route you want to take.

Guns: Merlin / Cormorant / Moa / Ferox / Rokh

Missiles: Condor & Kestrel / Corax / Caracal / Drake / Raven

Either way, the Moa is a cruiser which is more then overkill for a tutorial mission.

That Condor was given for a reason. The Ibis is a noob-ship and has very very limited use, upgrade to a proper frigate asap.

Normal frigates are (for caldari):

Condor - Missile ship but with a Propulsion jamming bonus, so it's a good cheap interceptor in PvP.
Kestrel - Missile ship
Merlin - Hybrid gun ship

The ones I left out are:

Bantam - T1 frigate logi (remote repair ship - kind like healers from other MMOs. Cause of that, not that good for solo missions)
Griffin - T1 Electronic warfare frigate (not useful in PvE, loved by friends / cursed at by enemies in PvP).
Heron - T1 Probing ship (good for scanning down stuff with probes and basic exploration).

Here is what I used on tutorials with an alt about a month ago:

[Condor, Starting Condor]

3x Light Missile Launcher I (Scourge Light Missile)

1MN Afterburner I
Adaptive Invulnerability Field I
Cap Recharger I
Small Shield Extender I

Power Diagnostic System I
Ballistic Control System I

*Add rigs if you want, can upgrade stuff to meta levels if you want*

This was trained in less then 1 day and worked well.

since i did it recently, you can do tutorial and lvl 1 missions in condor

however you want destroyer for faster lvl 1 missioning

and if you plan to do sisters of eve epic arc im afraid one mission requires you to fly cruiser or you will die quickly in destroyer

Two things:
First - is that one of the I think THREE missions where the whole point is "You are gonna get blown up now kthxbye, you HAVE to get blown up to finish the mission" in the tutorial?
Second - speed tanking will save you from most of the damage in those missions. Fly fast, never fly straight toward anything, always drop into orbit and bombard them with rockets. You moving around past them will make them miss a lot.

Condor is a nice ship for toots and lvl 1's, ibis can be a pretty good ship depending on missions I've used it in lvl 2 missions before but then I can fit 125mm guns and have related gun skills trained, but don't underestimate the ibis it's a nice free ship.

If your going for missions instead of say mining then I would say train missiles right now cause guns are more involved but if you plan on PVP guns are a must have skill.

Know your engagement range (range of your weapons missiles in this case), and manually pilot when ever possible.

You can negate a lot of damage by keeping your ship orbiting.

To manually pilot double click any where on your screen and your ship will start piloting in that direction.

To manually orbit Double click, turn your view inward at an angle and double click again, rinse and repeat.

as you orbit adjust to keep your enemies at the edge of your engagement range to limit there dps and maximize your own considering your missile range is pretty long even with crap skills this shouldn't be hard.

Use the overview to keep track of where everything is in its relation to you.

Plus the great thing about missiles is you dont have to worry about how your orbiting affects your tracking since missiles dont.

If you think a ship in your mission has a webber kill it first. The condors tank lies in its speed and maneuverability not in its hit points.

Great thing is if you master this you will be well on your way to learning a much needed skill for pvp.
