Right, the mysterious event that flattened trees for miles around. Can't remember the name. A lot of conspiracy theories around that one. For example, that it was the result of some Nikolai Tesla resonant electromagnetism experiment.

Well, doomsday isn't the end of the world, right?

8 hours is all we have left.

A channeler for the "Star Nations" (not to be confused with the Star Citizens) has released a video explaining why everything will be perfect after tomorrow forever.

Well, this is it. By tomorrow we'll either be dead, terrified, hanging out with aliens, or having a hearty laugh about everyone who thought something would happen. If something does actually happen, and i'm not able to post again, i want you guys to know how much i love you all. Even little Tippia.

Wow, that's very nice Bane. You have a bright future indeed in the cult leader business.

I'd also like to say my good-byes to everyone. By this time tomorrow, I expect to be:
-In a merkaba light vehicle headed for Pleiades, or
-So transformed and enlightened that I no longer need trivial amusements like computers and EVE, or
-An unsightly smudge of biomass.

No, that means "Tastes all kinds of good" in pseudo-Spanish. I think it was Tunguska.

All that is going to happen is the aliens who gave the mayans their calandar in the first place will come back and give us a new calandar for the next 15000 years. Its kinda like the phone book, just because it says its only good until december of 2012 doesnt mean everyone listed in it will die on the expiration date and youll get a new one on your doorstep whether you want one or not.

I wouldn't quite say it's like a phone book. Nobody uses those anymore. I'm pretty sure some modern Mayans still use their Long Count Calendar in addition to the common, worldwide standard calendar. When is honestly the last time you looked up a phone number in a phone book?

Oh yeah, the reason i'm so jaded about this is because i've seen a few doomsdays come and go.

I heard someone once suggest the reason people want the world to end in their lifetime is because they don't like the idea of it continuing after they die.

That makes a lot of sense if you ask me.

Still i shall be watching 2012 on the 21st. Yay for bad science.

But now bets are being hedged, some are saying 2026 as apparently a manhattan sized rock will come really close to us and wipe us out.

Same one that passes under geosynchronus orbit on the 14th Feb next year, doesn't really matter much, for every person saying the world is going to end there are 50+ people that will keep the dream alive, relegating the end of the world into an alternate reality.

Consensus reality
On a relevant note the believers are closer to ill people than you think, for example being too easily suggestible is not only a proof required to satisfy mental incompetence. But it also holds that you'd be at risk left to your own devices in large groups.

Sacrificing ones identity to adapt to a cult or adopt a belief that is beyond comprehension is a form of alternate personality disorder - Identity disorder.

(People outside of signatory roles, decreeing that they are to provide diagnoses, cannot legally do so. However, hundreds adopt the robe in an effort to overturn a statement made in public, even judges in the case of a member of MI6 that believed his boss used telepathy to make him agree to downloading Official Secrets Act classified files to sell to a Belgian)

The people congregating together expecting the end of the world should, imo, declare that they are doing it for the thrill when the 22nd of December commences.

But, the only science without a paradigm (Psychology) uses the likert scale to determine if you are good or bad, my heart goes out to them at Christmas.

Well, I think anyone tracking doomsday scenarios is someone who isn't happy with the way things are on Earth. They just can't believe that things could be this screwed up and still continue into perpetuity. It doesn't matter much whether the person is a Christian looking for the Second Coming, an American survivalist worried about conspiracies, terrorists, immigrants, and that Socialist Obama, or a New Ager looking at ancient numerological/astrological signs. Fundamentally, they think this current world system is crap and/or doomed, and they're hoping it will end.

I think that's the majority of the believers. A smaller group are just simple-minded, superstitious, panicky folk. Like the ones who flooded the "safe spots" around the world.

I doubt that many people who are doing well in the social Darwinism system (wealthy people, Wall St. broker types, etc.) pay much attention to doomsday prophecies. "It's harder for a rich man to find heaven than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle."

The true Apocalypse will start in about nine months with a LOT of newborn children, most of which will have morons as parents.

While having my morning coffee, i wasn't sure if the apocalypse had happened or not, but The Chronicle Herald cleared that up for me.

So it appears we have to put up with this badly designed and poorly balanced world a little longer. Can't really say i'm surprised. But i'll still be keeping an eye out for any more subtle changes.

And we're not quite off the hook yet when it comes to complete annihilation. There's still a solar maximum of immense power ramping up, so this is only a brief respite from DOOM.

heh, this world is transient.

There is a lot to be learned from people like Kungen in Nihilum (RL Life-Advice Guru).

Even the Psychology guys/gals set up "Law of Attraction" - It works the same way as reading RSS Feeds, or reading NASA webpages, you'll notice more of the stuff thats relevant to you. In the wiki description you would receive both a bill and a cheque but would reinforce yourself when receiving the cheque whilst ignoring that you receive a bill, as it is every month.

Think of it, if you were born as you, and not commencing this lifetime with any losses, what would be the difference between you and the people hired ahead of you, fired ahead of you?

It's an easy to answer question.

Why should Forum Posters dedicate their time infront of a computer screen to telling you or anyone else that inferiority is your end-game? This video has a montage of positive thinking, believe it or not

The same Darwinism mentioned above by Deserter is the same thing that keeps the rioters from England in August 2011, that weren't caught, safe. They set up a "buzz" for their endocrine system by trying something they could be prosecuted for, some were jailed, some escaped, some made the news. Martial Prowess =/= first-to-insult, although the latter works more often.

There is a book called "How to make friends and alienate people" - I claim to have only read half of it.
