I saw this in another thread and it got me thinking. I know enough about the chat window to open a new tab by finding it on the list or by typing in the specific name of the channel you are looking for. However, I know the list is not exhaustive. For instance, I have never seen a public channel on the list that implied it was for BPC / BPO trade.

That all being said:

1. Am I just blind and the BPC / BPO trade channel is on the list?

2. What is the best way to find a channel that could be helpful to your current needs?

3. If the answer to number 2 is "Know the name and search for it" then what are the names and functions of the more useful channels out there.

Not all channels are on the list; you can join any channel by typing in it's name.

Best ways to find a channel:

- google to see if whatever you need has a channel
- make a post in the appropriate profession forum (Missions, Trading, Science, Warfare, etc.) and ask if there's a channel
- look up one of the helpful corps such as EVE University, join the chat channels they have listed in the corp description (join E-UNI), and ask your question
- ask in the newbie corp channel or in the rookie help channel

Your best bet for information, though, is reading the wiki's of the various corps listed above. You can ask in chat if you have a quick question, but realize that the answer to complicated questions such as "How do I tank?" are multi-page deals that are difficult to type in a chat channel.

If you're looking for channels for a specific purpose (such as you mention trading BPO/BPC) then you can always join the help channel and ask.

A lot of corps or alliances have public channels, you can usually find this in their bio or information. For example RvB's public channel is "R-V-B".

Other channels can be quite difficult to find unless you know what you're looking for, for example the incursion communities. You can ask in Help channel about these also.
