tl;dr - a probe that flies to a near by star and lights a cyno.

The Skinny: I've perused a few of these confangled "why do I have to have a cyno lit in a system I want to jump to" threads and I had an idea. Why not have a fat probe about 100 cubic meters in size that gets loaded into a fatter launcher, charged up by liquid ozone (whatever the going rate is for your cyno skill) and launched to a near by star system where it lands on the star's grid and lights its cyno, then dies after 5 or 10 minutes.

As near as I can tell, combat probes cruise at about 16 AU per second. With a flight speed like that a cyno probe could fly about 1 light year in a little over an hour. Maybe do a 15 minute flight time per light year with a 5 lightyear range limit.

Alternatively, a ship within a target system could launch a cyno probe with in system at a book mark or other celestial to which fleet members could jump.

Imagine the warp disruptor probe and cyno probe combo launch.

There could also be a tech 2 varient that is smaller, faster and use less ozone - perhaps small enough to load into an expanded probe launcher.

You could make this an alternative form of device that a stealth bomber could fire from it's bomb launcher.

Device travels forward 30 KM, then sets off a cyno instead of an explosion.

I would suggest this might just need a bit of tweaking.
