A New Way to Recruit

Before a few days ago the method of recruiting was defined as; Spamming in the recruitment channel hoping pilots will convo you and join your corp. More recently, thanks to Jane Kavin, it has become; Pilot looking to join a corporation lists what he/she would like in one and how many skillpoints he/she has. Allowing recruiters that meet his/her criteria to invite him/her to conversation in attempt to recruit them. Jane created the "Unemployment" channel to allow recruiters to more easily see the few recruits there are, and there is easily 115 pilots who would agree that it is indeed a great idea and a lot easier than just constantly spamming their adds.

Jane also hopes that she can get CCP to make a new article for the character selection screen to help spread the word. As well as she plans to try to work with Eve University and other player Academies to use the "Unemployment" channel and the New Eden Job Department to find pilots fresh out of the academies a corp in which they would fit.

Sounds like a great idea. Trying to get pilots into a small corp is hard enough without having to compete with the recruting spammers. Having a spot where pilots have control might be just the thing to get us all what we want.

It's a great idea, though I've been sitting in the channel looking for potential recruits and more than half the time the channel is flooded by irrelevant conversations... hell sometimes even corp recruiters are interviewing people right in the channel. It's unfortunate there's no way to enforce a rule saying that they MUST do their interviews / etc. in a private conversation.

Since this seems to be a significant problem I will have the moderators enforce the rule of no off topic convos and that recruiters must take their recruiting attempts somewhere private.

Awesome channel... Awesome Idea.. Awesome All around.. Great Idea on Jane Kavin's part to form the new eden job department! The "Unemployment" channel is a great way for players to seek corps.. Corps are not allowed to spam over and over for recruiting, only players who are seriously looking for a corp to call home can, post who they are, what there looking for in a corp, what TZ, what kind of game play they are looking for, and you have ample time as a recruiter for your corp / alliance to Read what the capsuleers are posting! you see someone you think might fit in with your corp, you PM them in game, not the channel and start to chit chat! No more floods and floods of " X Corp looking for blah blah blah"

I am just waiting for CCP (gm / isd) to do a report on this channel and endorse it!!

Best way to find players for your corp so far that i have found in the game yet!!

Great Volunteer based players help moderate the channel, to help steer people from random chat, and keep the channel strictly for PLAYERS WHO ARE looking for a corp!

If you are looking for a corp or know someone who is, you should steer them in the direction of "unemployment" channel.

The rules are clearly stated when you enter the channel via the MOTD!!

I support this. Letting the Pilots have the floor will be a much improved way for corps to find who they want and pilots find more what they want.

Recruited to a corp that does exactly what I was looking for within 30 minutes! This is such a great idea! How did it take us this long to start this?

I know sometimes it's difficult to realize just how much you spend on incidental things each month or year, but seriously, EVE is very cheap entertainment compared to most things... If you are a smoker, smoke one less pack a week and pay for EVE, with money left over to pick up a cheap bundle of flowers for the EVE widow upstairs.

It took only a day to start the channel and two to get it from 21 max to 84, three to get it from 84 max to 115 max

What I think he meant is why it has taken so long to come around in terms of how long eve has been around.

It is definitely one that is going to make my life easier. :)

Seems mad that no one has done this before! I just had another recruit just a moment ago Lol. I've certainly pointed all my recruiters to this channel-it just seems a much better way for people to get a good match up. I for one have always detested spamming in the recruitment channel! I've always waited for pilots to post-so this is ideal for me-I'm more than happy to help out in any way I can. Good work guys-I heartily endorse this! Big smile

Well quite a few pilots have said they ahd this idea but they just never got around to making it seems like Jane was the only person who got so agrivated irl that they got off their rear and made the channel.

Shouldn't this be in "Alliance & Corporation Recruitment Discussion", rather than "A&C Recruitment Center"? Oh well. Who cares? I fully support this idea either way, and might just take a look at the channel ASAP.

It is a good idea. I've been lurking on there and was able to talk with one person who fits what I'm looking for, training new recruits!

Very very good idea. As CEO of my 2nd corp in my time playing eve, this has to be by far the best recruiting idea I've ever seen. Channel is very quiet at the moment but I have high hopes it'll get better. The "official" recruitment channel is a joke and I will support this idea for a long long time to come. Maybe we can get CCP to get off their lazy bums and endorse it as well.
