Ship advice

Hi

Old character (77mill sp’s, didn’t keep skills going) returning with Retribution to the game after 2 years away, probably been more like 4 years since I last played seriously. Even then I relied heavily on my corp mates for advice.

I appear to have forgotten everything I ever learned, to get back into the game and before immersing myself in joining a corp for PvP in 0.0, something I did little of previously I’d like to run level 4’s on my 2 accounts to build up a good bit of isk and to learn the game again.

I have 1 Caldari, predominantly missile chucker who always used to run lvl 4’s in a Nighthawk but I believe the Tengu is now the ship of choice for a missile chucker?
Is this correct?

Now I also have a second account with a Minmatar (97 mill sp’s) with good gunnery & ship skills (a bought character), I have never used guns since my very early days in Eve but that is something I wish to rectify.

Which ship should this character be using or aiming for?
Currently flying a Maelstrom, Been doing level 3’s in this but still getting my head around the different ammos and taking out NPC’s at close range.

Assume skills are at lvl V and isk is not an issue.

As you can see old character with a noobish brain.
Just need help with figuring what ship to use as most of the previous help I have searched for is all pre Retribution and I understand this has made some big changes, never mind the previous changes I have missed.

I have posted with an alt to avoid embarrassing my main and please excuse the wall of text.

Thank you in advance to any helpful advice.

THE HORROR...you should be ashamed of yourself Shocked

Are you looking to run the two accounts together in the same mission? or will they each be running their own solo missions concurrently?

And in what faction's space will they be missioning in?

I know, i'm so bad Oops

I think the plan is that the Caldari character will be off to 0.0 to join a pvp Corp while the Minmatar char will provide the iskies running level 4's in Caldari space.

I guess my real questions are:

1: what would be the ultimate ship to aim for in the Minmatar char with projectile turret skills.

2: should he stay in Caldari space or consider moving elsewhere to run Lvl 4's Bear

3: Still would like to know the best ship the caldari char should aim for if he was running lvl 4's, again isk and skills not being a problem.

Cheers.

For missions? Machariel. Alternatives are Maelstrom and Vargur, but with your sp, I don't think you need those. Note: my own Minmatar character only got up to Hurricane before I realized I really hate Minmatar ships and trained her towards Amarr ships. I swear I try giving matari ships a new chance every week, but it never lasts more than a few hours - so if you think something else will be fun, be a man, don't limit yourself to one race.

Do them where you think you'll make most money. You'll have to figure this one out yourself (hint: it's not Caldari Navy :p)

Frankly, there is no optimal ship. Tengu does great on its own, as does CNR, Nightmare is awesome, Rattlesnake can be fun and with Gallente/Minmatar side training, Machariel won the hearts of many. Personally, I run with a combination of Tengu (most missions) and CNR (battleship heavy long range missions). Do note though that as soon as you move out of Guristas/Serpentis space, Tengu's dps tanks and you'll be better off picking something else. But in my case, with love for the missiles, when all else fails, the mighty Raven saves the day :)
