[quote=sackofdung Sasen]Price is rock solid at 134 Oct. 6th 2:22 pm est. I was anticipating isogen would finally break a mold considering it is probably the most pain in the a** high sec mineral to mine. Just for the hell of it, I filled 3 orca loads, about 600k m3 full of nothing but omber and i didnt even get 1 million units of isogen. Plus the fact all this talk of people able to afk mine with thier huge ore holds in thier buffed barges doesnt really apply to kernite and omber, due to the small number of units per roid.

Scarce supply due to game design does not necessarily imply a much larger demand has been coded in. There are not many T3 BCs "isogen hungry version", right?[/quote

All im saying is from the viewpoint of a miner, isogen has everything going for it on the up side. Ive mined kernite and it wasnt my favorite but omber is just god awful to mine even at 134 p/u isogen. We miners are a lazy bunch. :)

What some of you should be asking yourselves now is, which other minerals have just about exhausted their "drone poo" legacies... or not. Shocked

Probably all of them. Maybe not high ends, but it wasn't actually ever relevant for them to begin with.

You'd be stupid to mine omber anyway, even without the "small asteroid" problem it's only 70% the value of Kernite.

e: And "rock solid" is a stretch, there's still less on the market than there is in my hanger, much less than what had to be cleared to get it here. Blink

Didnt want to make a new thread for this but i had to ask, who and why is trying to buy up a huge amount of minerals in jita. If you look there is massive buy orders for trit, mex, pyerite, megacyte, zydrine, isogen. Just wanted to get your guys take on it. Is it for dust that will soon be coming on line?

It's Contiesta.

Curiously, it's a name I've seen before. He was making similar purchases, although even bigger, awhile back, six months or so ago.

Both of you want an answer to this and this is related to Kara's thread as well in fact this is the answer to Kara's thread.
It is not the miners. It is the winter update. By the way Contiesta is only the early bird in this there will be a lot more soon.
Now what happened awhile back, six months or so ago? That is your clue.

I did the same thing awhile back as Contiesta did. And I am doing the same thing now again. And it is not just the two of us. Not by a long shot.

I, too, am only willing to say I'm doing something clever and nothing more.

There's nothing worse than an EVE player, generally considered to be top of the food chain in the MMO world, that cannot smacktalk with wit and coherency.

My guess for the increase in large buy orders for minerals is the winter expansion. EVE is getting that shiny new ORE mining frigate in the winter expansion. It will most likely be a big seller for a couple of weeks and if you want to take advantage you will stockpile minerals in advance of the winter release. Plus a lot more ships are being rebalanced and with that comes a shake up of what type and how many minerals are required to build them.

CCP is seeding the new ore frigates into the tutorials. Along with the skill book. As it replaces all of the dedicated faction miner ships which have role changes with the winter update.

The bpo's for the frigate are already for sale? If they are where at?

Contiesta builds a lot of faction ships for Somer Blink or is in charge of buying up a ton of blueprint copies and the minerals for them.

Yeah I figured that out last night. Looking at his corp/alliance on eve-who gives you the feeling that you're looking at a one man 150 pilot industrial operation.

That's getting really, really speculative though, so to be safe, we'll say 125-190 is where it lands, most likely the upper range.

I, too, can make undated predictions and then wait until it comes true at some point in the future so that I can whip out an "I told you so."

what do you mean undated? he quoted a post that's quite clearly dated and time-stamped.

edit: never mind, i just realised what you really meant by undated.

That's funny, people fall all over themselves to tell VV how awesome he is for his purported ability to predict what direction prices will go without much of a specific timeframe. Lol

Wrong, I don't predict direction, I create plans that cover from 1 to 2 directions. Plans don't predict but just *deal with* something price has already done in the past.

If price was trending up, then I won't plan for price dropping, so that will be just 2 plans: if price keeps rising and if price starts ranging, with an expectation it will still want to go up after the ranging.

Only in case I see an inversion pattern like i.e. a double top, then I put in a "what if price goes down" plan as well.

The only cases a "prediction" may be made is certain very specific scenarios right after powerful things like a 2W pin bar, then price due to demand and supply tends to act in a known way but it's still a plan not a "I know how price will do and where it will go".

I roleplay a trader in RL too, using the same methods. I love the non roleplayed money I get. Twisted

For the record, I think you're both full of **** when it comes to predictions.

VV just puts a lot more effort into it...
