another bounty post

As a bitter vet, I am not happy with the changes being made to the game or the direction it is going. So rather than stew quietly I tried to think of how to respond the eve-way.

So my big FU to the eve universe is using the bounty system.

I positioned outside jita 44 and put bounties on all the freighters/barges that passed through (flitered ovrerview of course). 1m for jfs and 100k for the rest.

This made sure that:
1. no newbies were bountied
2. since they are probably not pvp-ers it is likely that my "statements" would last a long time
3. they were likely active characters, at least some of the time

Some interesting observations from this:
1. I started a couple days after the patch, bountied for a few hours at a time, yet it took 3 days before I started seeing repeat visitors.
2. half of this class of vessels is actually orcas
3. traders are remarkably pleasant people. Most just send a ? or thank you, and out of thousands of bounties had only 1 that could say was actually pissed.
4. hulks are rare now, mostly retrievers (surprise eh?)
5. jfs - 1 every 20 minutes or so
6. there are actually moments during all times of the days, usually only a second or two, where no ships of these classes are outside jita 44
7. So far I have spent about 500m and have to check odd hours now to find unbountied ships
8. It is actually quite fun in a wierd way since ships come and go so often you have to click fast to catch them, especially the jfs. So I plan on spending a few more hundreds of million doing it.

This is a great way to make this bitter vet less bitter. As I expected I get few notices that bounties have been claimed, so I know that my FU msg will be in eve a long time, and that is a comforting thought.

Maybe I am not using the bounty system in the way it was designed, but I am having fun with it and the devs should be satisfied with that.

p.s. one newbie type character put a 1b bounty on me, so I am assuming it was a proxy which is wierd but hey, when I am active I hang outside jita 44 in a CN hookbill so if anyone wants a piece of that bounty they are welcome to take a shot.

But see now you haven't told us what you feel is wrong or what you might suggest to fix it =/

Thanks for providing a perfect example of what's wrong with the current bounty system. I'm sorry but imo there was no reason, other than spite, for you to issue bounties on players minding their own business.

Making everyone in game have a red 'Wanted' sign is just plain stupid, not to mention it makes the characters personal security status worthless.

If so inclined, a player with very deep pockets can actually interfere with another players game time just by continuously placing a large bounty on one specific character.

Yeah, I'm sure the effects of your indiscriminate gesture of anger will be felt for aeons within the capsuleer community.

If anybody remembers you at all, that is. Which they won't.
You'd be better off just sending all of your isk to me.

How does putting a bounty on someone interfere with their game time?

More interested in the person who would tie up a whole billion on a almost 5 year old npc corp player.

the message is clear. High sec is nerfed. wardec or not. their is no more need to suicide gank. highsec is the new low sec... but without the reward

==========================edited========
Just want to apologise for this comment. From reading the fourm posts i got the impression that if you put a bounty on someone then they will be kill able in highsec. However right after posting I did this as an experiment by getting two alts attacking each other after placing a bounty on them. And it's not the case. Concord did blow up the ship and gave it criminal status and kill right to the victim to attack the attacker. However I did not come back here before now because I thought this topic went off the bottom never to be seen again. Lol looks like in both cases I was wrong. Least I can say that

Op, I think you've just made a LOT of gankers VERY happy. I can see it now, bombs exploding in the Jita region to collect 6 bounties at once. Seeing as you noted that many players in Jita are flying Orcas, that's quite the x-mas bonus Blink

Can't use bombs in highsec, and can't use smartbombs within reach of the docking radius for a station.

Placing bounties on random, innocent by-stander targets... working as intended.

Wait.. no.. When did that change? Are you referring to getting Concorded? Or simply, you just can't turn them on similar to how you can't use bombs in High-sec?

IIRC this. No smarties if it would touch a station or a gate (list possibly includes also sentries and that space TV).

Aww, did someone with deep pockets place a large bounty on your head?

Sigh, thank you for clearing that up. I always wanted to park a BS outside of Jita and have a Disco party... Guess that's out... ehh, kind of. Can still happened just have to be parked 5km+ away... well that still works.

You clearly have no idea of what you're talking about. I'm going to place a bounty on your head.

I have it on good authority that someone put a bounty on his head for being a sperg.

High-sec was not nerfed. You can't wardec High-sec in it's literal sense. They're is need for suicide ganking, now more than ever. High-sec is not Low-sec... because it's High-sec. There are plenty of rewards to be had in High-sec. Suicide ganking and salvaging, suicide ganking and grifing, salvaging and salvaging, Missioning and savlaging, Exploration, PI, Trading, and so on.

After reading through this thread and the posts by the OP, it inspired me to log into game and place bounties on every character in the system. Some people were upset about that except one guy who seemed fairly understanding of the mechanics. And that made it worth it. Out of 35-ish people, one of them was worth anything and that was reward enough.
