Thank you for that quick answer!

By buying ISK, I meant buying PLEX and selling it to raise ISK. I am older and work 50-60 hours a week, so I have more money than time.

I assume if I studied about contracts, I would be able to tailor a contract for my alt to accept that for example would allow my alt in one station to use one of my ships to travel to another station where my main is so that my main would then have it available for use. Is that a safe assumption?

You contract the ship to your alt in Station X. He then flies it to Station Y (assuming he has the skills to fly it) and contracts it back to your main. (contracts aren't free, but they're pretty cheap. 10k for a personal contract, 100k for a public one)

Nothing wrong in buying isk via legit channels. One word of caution though.

Don't go crazy spending money as a rookie. Experience is as vital as skillpoints. A Billion isk faction battleship flown by an inexperienced player will die to a experienced player in a tech 1 frigate.

Well if the alt was skilled to fly the same ships as the main then yes. Though it will often be easier just to set a courier contract and someone with a freighter will move it for you.

Also a very easy way to have your chars all access the same assest is to make a corp, have them in that same corp and keep the assets in corp hangars. This requires you renting an office in any station you want to do this in but in most places that is dead cheap.

When you create a contract you can assign it to a specific character/corporation or make it public. I use private contracts to move ships around between my three characters all the time. One thing to note though is that you cannot physically move something with just a contract. If a ship is located in station X then it will stay there even after it is transferred to another character. The new owner needs to go pick it up in station X.

There are also courier contracts but that entails someone either flying the ship from point A to B or, loading it up in a freighter and shipping it. If you need to move massive amounts of things or lots of ships you make want to look into shipping services, such as Red Frog Freight.

That is if you are moving stuff around highsec anyway. Moving stuff around in low/null gets REALLY expensive.

This game has a serious learning curve, which I really like. The veteran and experienced individuals on these forums and in the in-game rookie channel are amazing. I hope the people running and selling this game realize and appreciate how truly valuable an asset to them they are. But that learning curve is part of the appeal to me, so please do not simplify it. The complexity and depth are simply awesome.

So last night was the end of my first 72 calendar hours here, and I am just taking a break from work now at the office. 4 hours down and 5-6 to go. I am anxious to get home tonight and back on. But with all the help and much reading and noting, including several who have contacted me in game via mail, I feel like I have made a great start.

Obviously, I need to learn more about Contracts, and I see I need to return to doing missions, and now that you have pointed out all the alt would need to know to fly ships, depending on the ship, the Contract idea seems more likely in the future. I had an idea last night though, which was to simply buy the cheapest fast ship where I was, which I then used to fly to the place where the ship I was wanting was. Now I can just fly that better ship back tonight.

I have buy orders out to get a Retriever, which I will be able to fly by tomorrow night, and to outfit it. I am learning about fitting, and downloaded the out of game addon to play with to experiment with fitting it when I finally do get it. The player who gave me the 21 day invite kept his word and sent me the ISK. I have otherwise on my own, playing hardcore in the brief time on made about 40 million ISK.

So much to learn.....so much to do.....planning and doing your homework is so greatly important imo. And that is a large part of the appeal of this game to me

For the record. I will be joining a corporation where I am convinced it will be a mutually beneficially “fit”. I want to earn my keep, so that the corp I join will be glad. I feel it will be awhile yet before I can decide that, but if any of you think a motivated older player, whose account is already paid well into the future, could develop into a great recruit for you.....AND.....that you have things to offer that you think will be attractive to a player like me, I would welcome hearing from you. But again, I doubt I join a corp for awhile until I feel I know enough to make the right decision.
