Entering Faction Warfare as a Corp

on another character, I am a CEO of a corp of about 20 people who have been living in high-sec for about a year and a half.

We have recently decided to enlist into faction warfare to find more pvp action, but non of us have ever participated in it before, including pre-inferno.

What are some things that the leadership of a FW corp should know?

this is FW as I understand it now.

Stations in Systems controlled by the enemy are locked
Run plexes to contest a system
most PVP happens on gates and within plexes
once a system has been contested to a certain point, you may attack an I-Hub to take the system
You are paid in LP and ISK for kills

I realize that it is much more complicated than this, and if i wanted to sit here for 20 mins and think of other things to put, I probably could, but I think these are the major points as I understand them.

Any helpful advice or links would be greatly appreciated.

keep your corps faction standing above 0.1 or your whole corp will be kicked.

dont use smartbomns in fleet. if you hit a friendly pilot and your on km you take a massive standings hit

get to know yoir militia. get on comms witj them. easy to jump in amd out of fw so people like to get to know you first

come join us in amarr. we have been pushing the map well lately. always have fights on our daily roam. its fun!

Stations in Systems controlled by the enemy are locked. Correct. Exception: you can dock in all their hisec.

Run plexes to contest a system. Yeppers.

most PVP happens on gates and within plexes. Happens all over the place. However, inside plexes is a good place to find fights within your ship class (e.g. so you don't have to worry about getting BCs dropped on your cruisers/frigates).

once a system has be contested to a certain point, you my attack an I-Hub to take the system. Myep. Requires a sizable fleet to destroy, and if anyone completes a plex while you are shooting the I-Hub, it locks up again (so, it requires system domination).

You are paid in LP and ISK for kills. ISK only if they had a bounty on their head or something. You get LP equal to 1/10000 of the value of their lost materiel. So, if you kill a Vagabond totalling 200 million ISK in losses, you would get 20k LP split between the members of the fleet who landed the killing blow.

Some further points:

  • Complexes also pay out LP -- really quite nice amounts.
  • There are FW-specific agents with missions to do. These missions show up on everyone's overview once you start them, so they tend to attract PvP attention. They are quite lucrative if done right.
  • You get shot on sight by NPC police (not CONCORD) in enemy hisec (despite being able to dock there; it's weird).
  • You don't operate in vacuum (figuratively, at least). Get to know the other FW corps/alliances or notable figures around

Good luck!

The faction police will shoot you in enemy highsec. Get neutral logistics if you plan to join TLF/FDU and can't imagine living without Jita. Actually, get neutral logistics regardless, because you will be flagged as a legitimate target for enemy militia anywhere in space and there are no shortage of highsec trade hub campers.

You can still be shot by your or your allied militia members. There are penalties for doing so, but their consequences are avoidable. Just because it's blue doesn't mean it's friendly (at least until you get to know the people better).

My alliance is looking for people. We are super noob friendly and have a high level of activity in US TZ. Good leadership, plenty of freedom to do what you want, very helpful and friendly atmosphere. Contact: Fenrir vice or Rina Kondur

We fly cruisers and down mostly because the plex that spawn are usually medium and down.

As leader of a corporation that was #1 in two militias within a month, I can totally vouch for them being noob friendly.
