Looks like you joined one of the corps that lives in my home region. Looking forward to meeting you in space.

Good luck and welcome to Curse.

Not too muchSmile. Actually you guys have us outnumbered and outgunned, so I shouldn't talk. We are always up for a fight though.

I want to preface this by saying that I appreciate the learning/fighting curve in Eve. I do not want to be a highsec player. Im trying hard to get out and explore.

I really want to push the envelope a bit

I am in a Corp but, at the most, there are only 5 people at a time on, and 3 of those are mining. Theres not a lot of help there, altho the leadership would help if they could.

Compromise. You want to do lowsec, they want to mine. Get a Procurer or three and invite them to come along for some lowsec mining runs. You can be their escort or something. You'll find the PvP you were looking for and be helping your company at the same time.

I've always secretly respected players that effortlessly make a decision to change guilds or corps in game, but Ive also been proud of my loyalty to a team.

Players will tell you that "its just a game, its your money. Play it like you want to play it." But Ive never agreed with that. Its real PEOPLE.

There's a human being on the other side of your screen and that makes this game real.

As an ex-CEO and part-time recruiter I went through this with many people. You are right to have this attitude, and loyalty will get you very far in EVE. However always check that you are loyal to your corp's ideals and motivations, and not to just the corp's name and ticker.

If you are not enjoying your corp's activities, both you and the corp will suffer in the long term. You will probably not be so interested in whatever your corp organizes, and as such contribute only very little to it. And vice versa, the corp has little to offer to you. In time you would just get bored of the game and leave, and neither you nor your corp would gain anything from it.

Joining a corporation of people with the same goals as you doing things you like together is the #1 way to have fun in EVE. You will like the game much more, you will be tempted to play more and help build your new corporation. Meanwhile in your old corporation a place frees up for another person who will align with their goals more than you do. All three parties benefit: the old corp, the new corp, and you as well.

I really want to push the envelope a bit and find some battles that are challenging, so I go into lowsec, flying frigs, dessies or BCs looking to rat. Inevitably, even carefully watching local, I am being caught mid rat fight by pvprs, webbed scrammed and killed. Thoroughly locked down and feeling stupid.

use dscan to keep an eye on your surroundings, if enemy ships get too close for comfort align out, warp if they land or you scan them within 10k. it takes a number of seconds for a ship to warp 15AU and decelerate so if you are scanning frequently enough you will have time to align and warp, even in a slow aligning ship like BC.

Or, fit a PVP fit and engage them.

You could I dunno, try to join a nullsec corp (not a renter corp for goodness sake). If you know how to tackle or are willing to learn you will be welcomed almost everywhere.

I created in 04, returned for about a month in 07 or so, RL divorcey stuff happened, so quit again and am now back.

This is my main. Not everyone is hiding something.

And I have joined a Nullsec corp. If you had read the replies and not just the OP you would see the change of Corps.
